“Ma’am, there’s someone here to see you.”
Cindy’s voice echoes off the vaulted ceilings from the intercom on your desk. From your position at the window, staring down on the masses exploring Dreamland under an orange sky, you pinch the bridge of your nose and inhale sharply. Exhaling, you use your next breath to take an extra long drag of your cigarette.
The hands on your watch tell you it’s been only five minutes since the last of the investors left your office, their overpowering cologne and stiff suits testing your nerves almost more than their words. More consumers, more money, less performers—on and on and on for hours. They perfected the art of saying so many words that lack meaning.
You debate ignoring Cindy entirely. It’s rare, but you could manage it, feigning ignorance later. She’d nod and fill you in on what you missed while her eyes twinkled with knowing. Unfortunately, you can hear a crackle over the intercom, and know she’s waiting for a response.
Padding with bare feet on the cold stone to your desk, you throw various papers out of the way, and press the button.
Voice straining you respond, “I’m busy.”
An intake of breath and you know you’re not getting out of whatever this is. Cindy pauses, then comes down the line again, sounding distracted, and you can imagine her staring intently at whoever is waiting outside the large doors.
“She says it's an emergency, Ma’am.”
You drag your hands down your face and blink harshly. Mentally, you send up a prayer for patience, not caring whether a response comes through or not.
“Send them in please, Cindy.”
“Yes, Miss Vandevere.”
The cigarette in your hands is almost completely burnt down but you take a long drag of it anyway. You drop it into the ashtray before the embers sting your fingertips any more, crossing your arms over your chest as you stare out the window again, back to the doors. The view is largely the same from here except for a better angle of the circus tent where Dumbo and Colette will be performing tonight. Stepping back into your heels despite the ache in your feet and turning with a pleasant smile, you banish any longing thoughts of the woman to the back of your mind.
Only to find her standing in front of you.
Your mask falters for a second. Remembering that you’re not alone, you maintain your worn smile. Nodding to Cindy in thanks, she takes her leave, shutting the door behind her.
“Colette,” You breathe, false expression dropping into something genuine and fond, “What brings you here? You’re on soon.”
“I can go if you’re concerned.”
There’s an edge to her tone you’re used to hearing directed at everyone else. Crossing around the desk and approaching her slowly, you take her in, admiring the mix of Colette and The Queen of The Heavens in her appearance; red wig and golden headpiece in place, makeup done up to perfection, though she’s still dressed in her usual clothes.
You take her hands in your own and kiss the backs of them. Her neutral expression doesn’t falter, eyes following you. The set of her shoulders is too tense for your liking.
“I don’t want that, not even a bit. But you are cutting it close, darling, is something wrong?” You ask softly.
Colette sighs. Her fingers lace themselves through your own and she stares at them, tracing the connection with her eyes. You wait, though you glance at the clock on the wall frequently. Minutes seem to tick by.
“I’ve been thinking about you all day.” Colette admits, meeting your eyes.
“Oh?” You grin, “Anything… intriguing?”
Her lips part in a smile, but it’s not the one you’re used to. It doesn’t meet her eyes. Worry is building in your stomach and you’re shoving worst-case scenarios to the back of your mind.
“Mon chéri, I think you’ve outgrown Dreamland.”
Blinking, you back up slightly, though still keeping your hold on her. Your brows furrow as you search her face for some kind of answer. Her face remains impassive, though her eyes are lit with interest.
You’ve never given thought to leaving Dreamland; it’s your brother’s creation, his life’s work, and you have done everything possible to bring it to life. No matter how many investors and press were thrown your way, you handled it with grace. Over time, you’ve even come to enjoy the anticipation of what will come everyday.
It isn’t leaving Dreamland that feels difficult, you consider, it’s leaving your brother. Without you, he has no one in his corner. He will be the last man standing to defend Dreamland’s original vision. Could you do that to him, all in the name of furthering yourself?
“Where is this coming from?” You ask.
“I’ve thought about it for quite some time, but seeing all you’ve handled in recent weeks… You do so much and receive so little.”
“Maintaining Dreamland is enough for me.”
“Is it?”
“Yes.” You say.
Snatching your hands away and folding them over your chest, you stare harshly at her. Colette laughs bitterly and shakes her head.
“Look me in the eyes, mon chéri, and tell me you don’t want more for yourself.”
You can’t. The two of you know well enough that isn’t possible and it makes you grit your teeth. It feels like a betrayal of your family and all you’ve worked for to walk away… but don’t you deserve happiness beyond stolen moments?
There’s something in your lover’s face that says she’s not telling you something. She never did answer your question.
Slowly, you repeat, “Where is this coming from?”
Colette holds out her hand, palm up. You place your own in it.
“I overheard a proposal today. A generous donation of funds for… you.”
You close your eyes against her words. It’s easy to block out every sensation in the room except for her warm hand, holding onto you. You try and fail to pull away from her. Colette pulls you closer, wrapping you in her embrace, and you can’t help but clutch fistfuls of her dress in your hands.
Every ragged breath you take feels impossibly loud in the cold room. You hold onto Colette like she’s the port in a storm.
“What did he say?” You whisper.
“You’re worth more than this place, my darling.”
“Please.”
Her hand settles on your back, “He’s having an agreement drawn up tomorrow.”
You laugh through the tears, a slip of madness working into it. Here you were feeling guilty for considering leaving and your damned brother was preparing to sell you off for his precious Dreamland. He would cart you off to the investors offering the prettiest penny as if you hadn’t built the damn park too.
Colette kisses your temple.
“I won’t leave you.” You say.
“You won’t have to.”
A piece of paper is pressed into your hand. Looking down at it, your eyes widen; her renewal contract with Dreamland stares back at you, signed and dated on all lines except one. It’s missing the most important signature; yours.
You pull back and stare at her. The look on her face is genuine this time, as fond as she’ll allow herself to look.
Somewhere in the fray, her renewal contract slipped through the cracks of your paperwork. She’s free for all intents and purposes. Your smile. It’s possible, after all… it’s not just dreams.
Leaning your forehead against hers, you smile.
“When would you like to leave, my love?” You ask.
“Tonight?”
Laughing, you shake your head, but steal a kiss, “Consider it done.”
It’s clear in your mind. The world is your oyster with all of the money you’ve made from Dreamland, stored securely in your own private account. You could live off of that alone for the rest of your days. But you know just as well as Colette does that neither of you are satisfied without something to keep you busy.
You’ll tell your brother in a letter. If he doesn’t know until you’re gone, his seedy henchmen can’t stop either of you. You’re going to be free.
Checking your watch, you wince. There’s an hour until showtime. Colette should really be in the tent getting dressed. You only hope that no one is worried enough to call your brother, though you gather his attention might be occupied with visions of grandeur, visions of all he’ll accomplish with the money he’ll never see from getting rid of you.
“You have a show to put on, Colette.”
“We have a show to put on.”
You barely resist the urge to kiss her again. Sending her from your office with smudged makeup might raise a few eyebrows and now is the worst time to draw any attention. Instead, you kiss the back of her hand.
“To freedom.” You whisper.
Colette steals the kiss you didn’t, makeup remaining carefully intact, “To freedom.”

Eva Green- Owning the Red Carpet
Context: your going to the Dumbo premiere with your beautiful girlfriend Eva Green and coincidentally it just so happens to be your two year anniversary, let’s see what surprises you have up your sleeve for your incredible girlfriend.
A/N: I absolutely adored writing this and it’s probably my favourite Eva post yet, I hope you all enjoy.
Warning(s): None
Tumblr media
I couldn't believe I was here, with her, the love of my life, right now. Me and Eva had been together for two years now and we were currently on our way to the premiere for Dumbo, which coincidentally fell on the evening of our two year anniversary, and I was certainly going to make it a night that we'd both remember forever.
Pulling up to the premiere I turned and faced Eva who sat next to me, positioned perfectly to be the first person out of the car and I saw how she sat there fiddling with her fingers. I knew how she got nervous before events like this, we'd both already agreed that we wouldn't be staying for any after parties or 'Plastic Parties' as Eva liked to call them.
"Hey, everything's going to be okay," I whispered to her reassuringly as I placed my hand over hers to stop her fiddling. "And you never know it might be really fun," I said to her smiling knowingly, I had a couple of surprises up my sleeve.
"I know," Eva responded taking in a deep breath before she returned my smile with one of her own beautiful ones. "Anything will be fun as long as your with me," my heart melted then and I could already feel a tear or two pricking at the back of my eyes.
Eva then took our conjoined hands and brought them up to her lips giving them a loving kiss, her red lipstick staining them slightly, before the car stopped and then the door was being opened for us to leave.
I watched how Eva hesitated slightly and so I gave her hand a tight squeeze which seemed to give her the confidence she needed as I then said, "Don't worry, I won't ever let go."
she then looked at me and I saw how her ocean blue eyes searched mine for a little more encouragement, "Promise?" She asked me and I may have almost not heard but I knew her well enough that I would always hear everyone word she said and even the ones that remained unspoken.
"I promise, my Princess," Then she left the car with a final deep breath pulling me with her, as our hands never left one another's and I knew I could never love anyone as much as I loved her.
Then the flashes came and the cheers began and suddenly the press were firing questions in every direction known to man but I was quick to react, I didn't even have to think about it, it was just a reflex.
I held Eva even tighter by her hand and practically glued myself to her side as I lead us down the carpet. I'd never been to something like this before, so I was acting purely on instinct my mind going completely into overdrive. It's one focus was making Eva feel comfortable and safe and also make sure she had an amazing time.
We'd had to stop once or twice so Eva could answer some interview questions but once I saw the look in her eyes shift, from the questions lasting to long, I was on it and knew the perfect way to make her laugh.
A whispered joke in the ear always seemed to do the trick at home and it seemed to work even better here, especially when I attempted some of the jokes in French, my imperfect translation seeming to be hysterical to Eva as she doubled over in laughter more than once and that's when I knew I was doing my job correctly.
We were now on the fifth interview and I was simply waiting now for all my planning and scheming over the last few weeks to fall into place.
Then as this final questionnaire interview came to a close the quiet music they'd had playing in the background became louder and I seized the opportunity to complete step 2 of my plan.
Step 1 had been to get Eva to this point.
As the music became louder and some of the other cast stood at the front of the red carpet in an open wide section, free of the press standing two inches away from you, I dragged Eva over with me.
I pulled her over by our joined hands and without warning we were standing on the open space with the music playing and I grabbed Eva's over hand, her faces completely perplexed and then I began to dance with her.
The music became louder and little faster and I began twirling her around and around, at first she was hesitant but soon enough as she saw how much I was enjoying it, she gave in and threw caution to the wind.
We danced and twirled, our hands always joined. Eva and I were laughing like mad women and for those three minutes of the song there was no one else around. It was just us goofing around in the living room with the music blaring and causing absolute chaos.
I knew it was coming close to the end of the song and on that final increase in Volume I lifted her up into the air by her waist twirling her around in the air as she laughed and smiled, a cheshire wide smile, down at me.
Then the music slowed and faded away and I placed Eva backdown on her feet, the only difference now, from before, was that she was facing away from me, her back turned to me.
Which gave me the perfect planned amount of time to signal Dani over, who placed the small blue velvet box in my hand and moving the skirts of my dress slightly I knelt down in just enough time for Eva to turn back around.
I watched as a thousand and one emotions rushed through her at once, before her face settled on shock and she was covering her mouth with her hands, eyes wide in shock.
"Eva Gaëlle Green," i began to say remaining on one knee as she looked down at me, waiting. "My beautiful, crazy and outstanding girlfriend, I...." And then I had to take a deep breath becoming nervous myself.
"I had a whole speech prepared but suddenly it's left my mind, so here it goes, off script. I've loved you since the moment I saw you, I've loved you since the first time we got drinks together, I've loved you ever since we ran around Hyde park in the middle of the night on the way home.
I love you in the way you dance around the living room to classical music, I love the way you hum to yourself as you cook dinner, I love your patience with me when I butcher your native language.
But most of all I love the way that you entered my life, head first and down a couple of steps in the hotel I was staying at in Paris. That's how you and I have always done everything, head first with no regrets and that's how I want us to continue.
I saw the tears flood down Eva's cheeks leaving stains as they went by and it took no less than two seconds for her to kneel down, wrap her arms around me and bring me back to my feet in an embrace.
So my beautiful Princess, the Mistress of my heart and my best friend. Will you marry me?"
"Yes, yes of course I'll marry you Y/N!"

It's 3 a.m. again, so let the Shenanigans begin!! 💖
⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆ 𓆩♡𓆪 ⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆
but imagine it's storming outside and you're trying to find safe place to stay after getting chased relentlessly by a hollow. Your whole entire outfit is absolutely soaked and damaged from running through the forest and the raging storm outside. Then as you finally calm down and begin walking you start to notice a specific cave and you're like hey nothing could go wrong if you went through the cave right so why not. (we love curious George) as you go through the cave there's a super bright light because you know it's the Sun! but anyways as you stroll along you find a magnificent Victorian house you then run up to it thinking that you finally found some shelter and who knows maybe someone that might live there could help you out.
Before you could even knock the door quickly opens, you're greeted by gorgeous woman with eyes that you could compare to a hawk (I'm so funny) you can't even get a single word out not only because she's beautiful but because she doesn't let you.
"Ah I've been expecting you."
She then pulls out her hand in what you thought was a handshake so you naively held out your hand and with a smile on your lips.
Unnoticed to you the woman simply smirked as she grabbed your hand you were yanked inside never to be seen again. 🥰
"You're mine now."
⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆ 𓆩♡𓆪 ⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆
Sadly it is not in fact 3 am anymore but I hope you enjoyed this!!💫💕💫

My sweet little girl
Warnings: Fluff, soft smut?, mentions of other celebrities,
Word count: 1.3 K
Pairing: Eva Green x Fem!Reader
Special request: @wandamaximoff2823
Requests: OPEN
Prompt: Y/N goes to her first party surrounded by celebrities, amazed by her surroundings, but, with a naive soul, she is unaware that a big celebrity is trying to flirt with her.
When her girlfriend Eva finds her, I couldn't help but feel my blood boil.
[Main masterlist] [Actors and actresses masterlist]
Tumblr media
The dress was tight enough to obstruct my breathing a bit, the heels hurt my feet, the makeup felt too heavy, and my hair was too still thanks to the hairspray. Ultimately, I did not feel comfortable.
But seeing my beautiful girlfriend, the great actress Eva Green, posing in front of the cameras, proud of having won her first Oscar; and, in short, I would be capable of this and more, just to see her smile from her that way
"Are you done with the photographs, miss smug?" I asked her as soon as I saw her approach me
"Yes, now I just want to get home, and receive my grand prize, because, I remind you that you owe me my prize" she took me by the waist, while she began to spread kisses on my cheeks, making me laugh
"Are you crazy, Green?" asked her former co-star and friend of her, Orlando Bloom, who came hand in hand with his wife of him, singer Katy Perry. "You just won an Oscar and you don't want to stay for the party?"
"Baby, leave her alone"
"They're right, honey, you worked very hard for that statuette, I think you deserve a break"
“But I can rest with a book…”
Suddenly, Orlando's arm rested on my girl's shoulders and he began to guide her to the exit .
"Don't worry, Y/N I'll take her to the party, you guys have fun while I keep an eye on her"
We both watched as our partners disappeared from our sight while we laughed
"Are you going to change?" the singer asked me, as we followed in the footsteps of the guys
"The truth is, we did n't plan to go to the party, so, no."
"Well, don't think I want to sound rude, but, you look like a middle - aged woman, tired even of breathing" we both made fun of her comment "come, join me , we will give you a second spectacular look"
———————————————————————————
When we got to the party, Katy wouldn't even let me look for Eva, she just led me to a table full of celebrities, from Rihanna to Scarlett Johansson herself, who were drinking and talking gushingly.
"Hey guys, I've got fresh meat"
All eyes fell on me , and questions began to arise.
I was born in a country that these people had only heard about, I studied such an ordinary career, I grew up with ordinary friends; I never stopped being the extra of a great movie, until one day, I traveled to France, for work reasons, and one day, I got lost in the great city of Paris, until I collided with a beautiful French woman, who helped me get to my destination, of course, while stealing my heart.
So, I was new in the eyes of Hollywood, her questions were understandable.
Questions like, 'Where did you meet your girlfriend?', 'How do you feel in Hollywood?', 'How well do you and Eva get along?'
"Wow, let the poor girl breathe" Katy made me sit at the table, while putting a large glass full of liquor in front of me "Come on girl, being the couple is also tiring and you deserve a break"
They all agreed, so I took a big drink, earning myself a few screams and even a wink from Scarlett.
———————————————————————————
Eva narrates
Orlando and his friends of him were beginning to wear me down. Even though I didn't consider myself a clingy girlfriend, I was beginning to miss my girlfriend, so, expecting an oversight from the guys, I ran out of the table to start looking for my girl.
Until I found her, by chance, dancing in the arms of Scarlett Johansson herself.
I did n't think of myself as jealous either, but seeing how another woman kept approaching Y/N, trying to touch her de ella, and even whispering things in her ear, made my blood boil.
With quick steps, I approached Y/N, startling the girl, along with the blonde next to her.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I need to talk to my girlfriend."
Scarlett did n't even dare to look at me, she just let go of Y/N's waist and left, so I took Y/N's forearm from her and took her to a quieter place.
"I think it's time to go"
"Eva I…"
"Let's just go Y /N, I want to go to the hotel"
"Sure, I'm just going to say goodbye to the guys and…"
With a light squeeze on her hand, I stopped her.
"No, let's just go , please"
“It's okay”
———————————————————————————
Arriving at the hotel, I quickly took off my shoes, while I watched as Y/N began to untie her hair, leaving her with long, silky hair.
"Why did we leave so fast ?"
"Are you going to continue to play dumb, knowing that I saw you flirt with Scarlett Johansson?"
We both started taking off our dresses.
"So what was he doing with her hands on your waist?" I began to walk until I reached behind her back
“We were just dancing”
“You know, princess, I think you have forgotten who owns you. Because, you're mine , right?
"Yes my love"
"Do you think you need a lesson?"
"Yes baby"
“Ohh, my sweet little girll”
I took her wrist, and carefully, we moved to the bed.
She, wearing nice underwear, lies down on the bed, slowly and delicately, while I sat with her chest between my legs.
With a slight movement, I took her leg, lifting it up to my face, to start kissing her calf.
"You smell so good, and you're so pretty, so pretty and all mine, you're still, and I'm all yours, right princess?"
"Yes, baby, you are mine and I am yours"
As I continued to kiss her leg, my left hand began to walk up to her lightly bra clad breast .
"Do you want it hard and rough or soft?"
"Easy, baby, I want to go slow"
"Perfect, safe word?"
“Pumpkin to increase speed and marshmallow to stop”
"Oh honey, you're so smart"
I dropped her leg, while dropping my own body next to Y/N's, to start kissing her fleshy pink lips, with all the love in the world, passionately and sensually. I carefully began to lower my lips to her jaw , her neck and her clothed breasts, making her let out a moan.
"I love listening to you"
Although, there were times when obscenity prevailed, today, I just wanted to worship her, she had endured everything from awkwardness for her wardrobe, an almost eternal ceremony, a party full of drunks, and the last thing she deserved was to endure my unnecessary jealousy .
She clothes started to get in the way of her beautiful body, so, with one hand gently holding her jaw, I had the other hand start unbuttoning her underwear.
"Eva" Y/N let out a light moan, making me stop
"What's wrong, princess?"
"Can you tie my feet?"
Y/N got up slightly, to take a long pink ribbon from the table next to the bed, surprising me a little, while making me let out a small laugh.
"Oh sure, baby. Everything is to please my sweet little girl"
———————————————————————————
With short, unsteady breaths, we both lay down on the bed, smiles on our faces.
"That was…"
"Incredible?" I asked
“I was going to say, it was the Crème Brûlée of the night” we both laughed , as Y/N lay on my chest and I started kissing her bare shoulders “despite the little mishap with Scarlett Johansson”
"Yeah, speaking of which, I'm sorry baby, I shouldn't have let my jealousy ruin our night."
"Ruin the night? Am I talking to the same woman who brought me to orgasm on more than 4 occasions?" we both laughed again
"You know what I mean, silly"
“Eva, you just have to understand that there is no one more perfect than you , my eyes cannot see beyond your beautiful face, because despite being separated, my eyes will always find that beautiful face, and my mind will always be there. cloudy of you”
Now she got up , to give me a long kiss, full of love and affection, showing with every pore of her skin, the love she has to give.
“Have they told you that you are very cheesy”
"Now you really ruined the moment"

I hope you enjoy it

Eva’s characters when they find you drunk.
(Obviously no rape included and you are their partner. And I know this ain’t all her characters but these are the ones I know know, that I’ve done a deep dive into :) definitely not based from Dani 👀)
Warning(s): some fluff, hint of nsfw, swearing?
Alma Peregrine
Tumblr media
- HA
- Be prepared to die
- She’ll be so mad
- 🥲🤚🏻
- I can imagine, you saying you’re going out for a calm evening with a friend
- Stumbling home at like 3 am,
- Her finding you on the floor in the parlor
- She nearly rips her hair out
- How dare you show up completely drunk?
- What if the children saw you like this?
- What a bad influence you would make
- She’s so disappointed
- She’ll understand having one or two glasses of wine after the children gone to bed
- But she’d never see herself, OR YOU, for that matter, so drunk
- She surprised you’re not dead.
- How tf you make it home without hurting yourself?
- Oh right, you didn’t.
- The bruises you’ll have tomorrow morning?
- She feels almost sorry for you
- But as the headmistress she is
- Suit yourself
- You’re an adult
- BAI FELISHA
- Don’t even think about sleeping next to her until you’re free from that horrible smell
- She won’t let you close to her or any of the children until you’ve learned your lesson
- If she has to tie you to the bed in the guest bedroom, 👀
- I more see her struggling to when you’re hands are all over her 👀
- She loves your hands on her, but she will stand her ground.
- Doesn’t matter how good your hands feel, not today darlin.
Angelique Bouchard
Tumblr media
- oh boy…
- She’d find you amusing
- Hilarious even
- She’ll laugh at you probably
- At first she wouldn’t care really, until she heard what happened 👀
- at the local bar with your girl friends, a man hitting on you?
- He suddenly disappears
- He touched you?
- You won’t walk tomorrow
- Or for the next week
- Doesn’t matter if you’re drunk
- She’s claiming what’s her’s
- Dun dun dun
- she’ll be more handsy
- Seductive
- Even if you’re her partner
- She’ll be all over you after the first round
- Smooth like butter baby
- She’ll be drunk on horniness
- Rubbing herself against you
- She could totally get off on your thigh
- Be all smug about it
- You won’t remember a thing anyways
- sometimes you feel as if something happens
- You play drunk
- It starts well in the beginning
- But she can smell you
- She smells your little lies
- You’ll either get “away” with it *wink wink*
- Or punished
- Either way it’s a win win for Angie
Colette Marchant
Tumblr media
- She’s more like Alma
- A bit disappointed
- Worried even
- She’s scared you’ll get yourself hurt
- Big mum energy whenever she finds you drunk
- she’ll take care of you
- Give you a bath
- Wash your hair
- Give you forehead kisses oml🥺
- She’ll give you a lesson
- Nearly scaring you with how serious she is
- As she switches over to french instead
- You’d either be sober or still drunk but you still wouldn’t understand her as she spoke
- She speaks fast man
- That finger pointing
- 👀
- a cuddle is deserved
- She got you wrapped up in her arms in bed
- Bunch of blankets around you
- Her fingers in your hair
- Perhaps a cold cloth against your forehead
- Makes you drunk at least a full glass of water
- Holds you close the whole night
Artemisia
Tumblr media
- to be honest
- There’s 2 sides to this
- If she cares for you
- Boy are you in for a treat
- If she doesn’t
- She doesn’t care,
- You could die
- if our dear murder boss cares for you and 3 words you,
- She’ll most likely not really do anything too serious
- Maybe just put you to bed
- If she sees male soldiers looking at you
- Pointing at you
- Checking you out in your state
- Boy.
- She’ll drag you with her
- Perhaps give you one hard and rough kiss
- Push you on the bed
- Get ready to f your brains out
- She doesn’t get there
- you’re fast asleep
- She’ll chuckle
- Actually smile
- She’ll never admit it
- Or say it
- Or do it
- MISIA smiled
- You’re hers
- You know it.
Miss G
Tumblr media
- now Miss G
- Hm
- She’s difficult
- She’s creepy
- Manipulating
- Scary
- Hot
- Scary
- If you are not together
- She’ll still take you to bed
- Like she did Fiamma
- Girl has problems
- if you are together
- She’ll take you to bed still
- There isn’t anything about you that doesn’t make her feel things
- She could be a hopeless romantic
- Or a psychopath
- She’ll be obsessed with you and your body
- You being drunk giving her just that extra time
- She’ll worship you of course
- Under her rules
- you’ll wake up the next day
- Covered in bruises
- Scratch marks
- Bite marks
- Everything
- she’ll leave a note by the bed
- “I enjoyed our time together last night. Miss G, xx”

how they react to you getting on your knees (Eva characters)
These are on the naughty side, so read at your own risk (or whatever).
I want to say, this is the first time writing in the characters pov and not the readers so sorry if it's bad.

It's been a long day, Jake making all the kids excited with his arrival, you finally got the younger kids to bed, you tiptoed down the hall towards your room, having taken your heels after closing Claire and Bronwyn's door.
Slipping into your room you're sure to gently close the door, leaning your head against the door, taking in the silence. You feel y/n's arms slip around your waist, her breath against the back of your neck. Both of you sighing in contentment at finally being alone together.
Y/n kisses the back of your neck then pulls away to let you in the room, you move to your wardrobe, peeling off your suit coat. You begin talking about the day. "The kids really seem to love Jake, except Enoch, who isn't too happy about Jake's arrival, and Emma-" You turn around and see y/n on her knees in front of you her hands behind her back, looking up with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Smiling down at y/n, you step closer, running your hand over her cheek. Y/n leans into your touch as she gazes up at you, y/n turns her head pressing kisses to your palm before nuzzling back against it. You brush your thumb against her lips.
"Are you going to be my good girl?"

How dare he, how dare Barnabas kiss the stupid girl, he's yours not that little sluts. You need a drink before he shows up for what will be your last meeting. "Y/n!" You yell for your assistant, who always stays late if you're still here. Y/n comes into the conference room. "Yes, Miss Bouchard?" Y/n asks, standing in the doorway, ready to get you anything you require.
"Go pour a scotch, and when Barnabas gets here let him know I'm in here." You say, and y/n rushes to fulfill your request. You smile, watching her run off. Clumsy little thing, but the best assistant you've had in a century.
She comes back with your drink, placing it down on the table instead of just handing it over, just like you like. Y/n moves to standing off to the side, waiting for any further instructions. You sip your scotch, watching her closely, she's more nervous tonight than she has been in years.
"What has you so nervous tonight, my dear?" You ask the girl, watching her blush at the pet name. Y/n looks at you with a worried look, biting her lip, contemplating if she should speak.
"Miss Bouchard, I've never spoken up about anything before, it's never been my business, but are you sure Barnabas is worth all this." She speaks, and your anger rises. You give her a look and she starts choking, gasping for air.
"Watch it y/n." You say, then release your magic hold on her. She coughs, tears fill her eyes. "I'm sorry, I just, you deserve better than him." She says, still gasping. You scoff at her words. "And who does?" You ask the silly girl.
"No one deserves you, Miss Bouchard." Y/n says, and you smile at that, because she's right. Y/n makes a move that surprises you, she walks over to you, dropping to her knees beside your chair.
She looks at you with pleading eyes. "But if you give me a chance, I'll prove my love for you, every day, till my last breath I'll prove to you how much I love you." She begs you, you watch her very closely, looking for any lies. You find none and smirk.
"You're full of surprises aren't you." You say, causing y/n to look at you with such hope. You turn your chair towards her completely. Looking at her kneeling for you, you graze your bare foot up y/n's thigh, watching her shiver under your touch.
You continue traveling your foot up her body, press your foot into her abs before gliding your foot to her chest stopping when you're right over her heart, you can feel it beating rapidly, you can feel it beating for you. You grin.
"You and I are going to have so much fun together, my darling." You say and y/n gives you such a happy smile. Y/n’s about to speak when Barnabas barges in, y/n goes to stand up but you stop her, keeping her down with a foot on her shoulder.
"Stay there baby girl, mommy will deal with him, then I'm going to have you right on the table."

Artemisia
It hadn't been hard to raid the Greeks royal guards ships, it had been clear there was something they were transporting, weapons maybe, so when your scout came back with news of their sighting, you hatched the plan to ram their ships, kill everyone and take everything of value.
You slaughtered everyone in your path on your way to the middle ship, the one the other ships were surrounding, protecting. Your men were already taking everything back to your ship, heading below, you notice the guards heavily guarding one room, you make your way to it, stabbing and cutting everyone down.
Opening the door you step you, to a bed chamber, you raise your sword quickly blocking a swing to your neck, look in the direction the sword came from, you look eyes with the princess, a grin coming to your face at the sight of her glaring at you.
"Princess y/n, what an honor." You say, with sarcasm dripping from your voice.
"Artemisia." Y/n growls, pushing her sword hard against yours. Your swords had been locked in a fight of strength, you easily disarmed y/n, her sword getting lodged on the door. She attempts to rip it out, but you shove her backwards.
Y/n stumbles away. "Come now princess, aren't you happy to see me after all these years?" You tease y/n, stalking towards her. "No." Y/n says, glaring at you as you approach her.
You stab your sword into a dresser, so your hands are free. "Not even a little happy?" You pout, faking hurt. Backing y/n into a wall, your hands pressed against the wall, trapping y/n between you and the wall. "Not at all." Y/n say, her voice trembling, her eyes blown wide.
You smirk, knowing she's lying. "That's too bad, I'm happy to see you." You say, playing with y/n's hair. Y/n body now trembling making you smirk widen.
"You are?" Y/n asks, surprised. Watching you with suspension. You lean closer to her, exhaling on her neck, causing y/n to shiver. "Oh yes, I've missed you." You say, grinning against her neck. Your hands grab her waist. "I've missed the way your body feels against mine." You sat, pulled her against you. y/n gasping at the sudden movement.
"I've missed the sounds you make while you squirm under me, your whimpers, your moans, your screams." You say, your hands moving all over y/n's body as you speak. Y/n's hands grip at your shoulders as he breathing speeds up.
You know you've sealed her lust for you, no need to play any longer, you lurch forward, grabbing her face, pulling her into a searing kiss, y/n gasps in surprise and you shove your tongue into her mouth. You grab her leg lifting it up onto your hip, press your hips hard into her. Y/n throws her head back, breaking the kiss.
"Commander." One of your guards said, interrupting your moments. Y/n push away from you, her leg dropping back down. You growl. "What!" You snap, pushing away from y/n ripping your sword out of the dresser you lodged it in. You turn to face the idiot.
He has the decency to look scared. "We've taken everything from the other ships, this ship is the only one without damage, should we burn it like the others?" he asks, y/n gasps from behind you.
"No, we'll add it to our fleet." You say, then screaming at him to leave. He trips over himself trying to get away, you march to the doors slamming them shut and locking them. Turning around to see y/n on her knees in the middle of the room, looking down.
You grin, thinking about how fun she'll be to have around again. you stalk towards her, gripping her hair, pull it hard, forcing her to look up at you.
"I see you haven't forgotten your manners pet."

Colette
After the parade you're finally free to go to your penthouse, when you get there your maids start annoyingly discussing the baby elephant, as they chatter away you take off your wig, settle it on its stand on your vanity.
You hear y/n coming down the stairs, two at a time, in a hurry to see you. "Hi Colette! How was your day?" Y/n asks, bounding over and kissing your cheek. You watch her in the mirror, her happy attitude annoying you when it normally makes you happy.
You roughly wipe your lipstick off with the back of your hand, which causes y/n to scold you, and quickly rush off to another room, saying she'll get you a washcloth. You stare at yourself in the mirror before your eyes catch something outside, standing up you look down at the courtyard below, anger filling you at the sight below.
How dare Vandemere cover over your poster with a poster of that elephant, you're the star people have come from all over to see for years, and now you're being replaced.
You hear y/n coming back into the room, and you can feel her presence beside you as you watch the men finish covering your posters. "Oh." Y/n gasps, as she takes in the site. "Oh." You repeat angrily, glaring out the window.
Y/n takes your heads, gently coaxing you away from the window and back to the vanity, you reluctantly allow it. She sits you down, then closes the blinds, blocking the outside world. You turn back to the mirror, picking up the washcloth from the bowl of warm water y/n had brought in, you begin harshly scrubbing your makeup off.
Y/n notices you doing this and takes the washcloth from you, y/n drops to her knees beside you and turns your car to face her. She opens your legs wide enough to kneel in between them, she dips the washcloth back into the water before picking up your hand with smeared lipstick on it, gently wiping it off.
"You know, I'm pretty sure that once Dumbo gets bigger, he'll grow into those ears and won't be able to fly anymore, then you'll be on top again." She says, trying to make you feel better. you think about it and she's right, so you smile down at her, once she's finished cleaning your hands she rinses the cloth before wiping your face carefully, her tongue peaking out as she focuses.
"Thank you, my little mouse."  You say, and y/n blushes at her pet name. Y/n finishes up cleaning your face and sets the cloth in the now cold water. Y/n puts her hands on your knees, looking up at you with such adoration.
You lean down pressing a kiss to her lips, before whispering against her lips. "Why don't we go upstairs and you can help me relieve some stress.

Miss G
You saw the way the girl had been all over y/n, saw her laugh at y/n's jokes, touched her arm, saw how y/n smiled. And why wouldn't y/n smile, the girl was pretty, her age, much younger than yourself. Maybe y/n will realize she doesn't need you and date that girl instead.
You've been thinking about it all day, you couldn't bring yourself to care about coaching the swim team, you just sat there smoking cigarette after cigarette, thinking about the girls hands on y/n.
You didn't even notice y/n showing off during swim lessons, or how Di, trying to top y/n's moves. You did notice the girl sitting on the bank watching the class, the girl y/n was talking too early. You cut class short, storming off.
You don't go to dinner, not wanting to see that girl near y/n, instead you pace around your rooms, wondering when y/n will tell you she's found someone else, when she'll leave you, just like everyone else.
Well past curfew you hear a knock on your door, sighing you stub out your cigarette before cracking open the door. You're surprised to see y/n, she barges in, quietly closing the door. You try to speak but she covers your mouth and presses her ear to the door, listening for something. After a minute she sighs, removing her hand from your mouth.
"Sorry, I thought I heard someone coming down the hallway." Y/n says, and steps away from the door, closer to you. She reaches her hands toward your face, to pull you into a kiss, but you step away, grabbing another cigarette from the carton, lighting it.
"What's wrong?" She asks, you don't answer her right away, flicking the ash out the window. You turn to her suddenly. "Do you like her?" You ask, watching her closely.
"Like who?" You ask, frowning. "Oh don't play stupid, I saw you with her this morning, she was all over you, then she showed up to watch you swim." You snap, irritated. You watch the realization on y/n's face, and you almost cry then.
Y/n steps closer. "Sweetie, no, I don't like her. She just came up to me, I was being nice, I didn't even know she was at the lake." She says, tries reaching for you. But you shrug away, moving to sit in your chair, leaving y/n standing alone by the window.
"Why not, she's young, pretty, you can spend time with her without people thinking that something is going on." You say, a tear running down your cheek. Y/n rushes to your side, crouching down to wipe your tears.
"I only want you." She says, gently caressing your face. "Let me prove it to you." Y/n says, dropping to her knees in front of you. You smile at her, on her knees willing to do anything for you. You watch her while you finish your cigarette, y/n rests her head in your lap, waiting for you to tell her what to do.
You run your fingers through her hair, gently coax her to lift her head. When y/n lifts her head you spread your legs, your robes parting slightly for her. you watch y/n struggle to keep eye contact with you, watch her lick her lips, eyes blown with desire for you.
"Show me how much you want only me."

sooo.....y/n wasn't supposed to have an act in the show. but then i wanted to show how easily VA can manipulate people into doing what he wants so she has an act now. sorry about that lmao
also, petite étoile is little star in French. it's used repeatedly so i figured i would keep that here gsdhafj
--
French used in this story, in order:
"Why is someone as beautiful as you in this place?"
"Are you also French?"
"See you soon, my dear."
"Is the little star uncomfortable?"
"No, simply...unused to the attention."
"You look beautiful dressed like this."
"Of course we do, darling."

My arms pump at my sides and my chest heaves as I sprint around the performers who all crawl forward to get closer to where I head. I see the men up ahead of me, Holt and Max, standing in front of a sleek, shiny black Porsche. I'm nearly out of breath by the time I reach them and shove my way around everyone in order to stand beside Milly and Joe. Just as I come to a halt the door opens and a fancy looking cane pops out, at which time some other guy introduces him, as Mr. Vandevere. I unconsciously turn my nose up at the man; he's snobby and fancy and clearly thinks himself as better than us, even without having said a word. I see movement from inside the car yet, and assume it's another one of his colleagues that he brought to pester us, about Dumbo no doubt.
But instead, the most gorgeous woman I've seen slowly steps from the vehicle, taking Vandevere's proffered hand with a polite smile. My eyes remain locked on the strange woman, her flaming red hair catching my attention the most. It's held in a strange curled updo, but even with it's size it somehow manages to look good on her. Decorated with a large feather looking to belong to a peacock, it's overall a very extravagant style. When she straightens, I can see the rest of her outfit. 'Dumbo is gonna have a heart attack if he sees all those feathers,' I think with a little titter. The sound must have been loud enough for people to finally register my presence as soon all attention is on me.
Vandevere takes a few steps forward with his hand out to shake and asks, accent posh and annoying, "My my, who do we have here?" I steel myself before putting on my best polite smile, returning his hand shake that lasts just a little too long as I reply "My name is y/n l/n. Wonderful to meet your acquaintance, Mr. Vandevere." His eye brow cocks and his lips lift into a smirk at my manners; "Well you're quite well spoken for someone of your status." I try not to let the comment get to me, knowing it would only serve to please him further. So I just hum and nod stiffly, rubbing my hand roughly on my jeans. My status. Who does he think he's talking to? I'm the trainer here, I'm not just some common freak in Max's show.
Without much else said, Max leads all of us away and towards his "office". I end up falling into pace with the beautiful redhead, Colette Marchant I think I heard him say? We stay silent, but I do brave a few glances here and there over to her. She has yet to speak a word, but the way that she holds herself is telling enough. She stands in the same rank as Vandevere; high and mighty, unwilling to interact with those less than her. Would make sense, if they really do come from where they say they do. Anyway, we arrive at Max's place, but Holt's kids and I are all shooed away and told to go do something else. I, obviously being the oldest, glance down at them and say "C'mon, let's go get Dumbo. They'll be by him soon, I don't doubt."
And I'm right, of course, as about ten minutes later while I work with the kids to continue training the flying elephant, voices begin to filter into my ears. I recognize them all, and with a sigh stand up, fixing my clothes and waving for the kids to do the same. Just in time, as they step foot inside the small tent a moment later. They're voices have died down, and all eyes are on us. Specifically, on the pachyderm at my side. My hand rests protectively on his head and my gaze remains hard, unwilling to let that Vandevere and his cane anywhere near my elephant. See, Max might own Dumbo, but he's ours. Dumbo belongs to me, Milly, and Joe, and no one else. With Mrs. Jumbo gone, it's my duty to protect him and if that means stopping him from getting publicity then so be it.
My eyes track every single movement the man makes, walking closer to inspect Dumbo and pushing his cane out, looking to try and poke at the baby's leg, only for me to take a step forward and push the stick away. "Please refrain from antagonizing him." I stand firm in front of him, about his eye level. He gives me an impressed look but it's so obviously filled with annoyance. Though he just smiles tightly and hums, retracting his cane. Before he can do anything else, he's pushed out of the way, as am I, by the redhead. I blink a few times and open my mouth to protest, but she doesn't even give me a sideways glance, so I don't bother. I watch as Colette walks slowly around Dumbo, giving him a once-over as she says "Hello there." I watch Dumbo carefully, who has his own eyes trained on something on the ground. Oh, not the ground. Colette's shoes have feathers, too.
"So this...creature of yours is supposed to fly?" I finally hear the first full sentence out of Colette and I'm honestly surprised. She's looking right at me as she paces slowly around Dumbo, but I can't seem to move past the very very strong French accent of the woman's voice. "Yes," I murmur, finally snapping myself out of it with a blush. She huffs quietly and stares at me for a moment longer before looking away. Meanwhile, Dumbo has been creeping closer, and I just see his trunk reach out and brush the sparkling black fabric away from Colette's calves to reveal the feathers on her tights as well before she spins a bit and looks down at him, making him skitter back. I let out a huff of laughter and glance between the two, mumbling "Feathers," to Colette. She gives me a weird look, but I just smile wickedly and turn back to Dumbo.
The guys are having conversation that I haven't been paying attention to until I hear my name mentioned; "Y/n's Dumbo's trainer. She and the kids taught him." My head shoots up to meet the ringmaster's eyes and then Vandevere's, who's shine with even more sick curiosity than before. It almost makes me squirm when he breathes "Ah," and steps towards us again. "And how on earth did you do that?" "Put. That. Down." Again forced to grasp the man's cane, my eyes harden further and I glare at him. I shove it down, not liking the way he had pointed it at the kids. It gives me shivers and he creeps closer, mumbling "I think you're a little too smart for your own good." But before he can say more, Colette says "Alright alright, that's enough." her heavy accent still lingering in the back of my mind. It gets Vandevere to calm down and back off, and before I know it he's guiding Max out of the tent.
Now just Colette, the 'bodyguard', Holt, and his kids are left with me, and soon the bodyguard leaves as well. Wanting to get to know what's happening, I glance at Holt, and then at Colette, before asking "Ms. Marchant, may I speak to you for a moment please?" The woman nods curtly before carefully stepping out of the tent. I would think those heels would be uncomfortable, especially on ground like this, but I don't say anything. Once we're out of earshot, I guide Colette through a little walk around the tamer parts of the circus as I speak. "So what is it you wanted to speak to me about?" she asks, and a little smile twitches at my lips. "You are French, non?" I reply back. Even just the single word makes her look at me in interest again and nod her head slowly.
My smile widens. "So you can speak it fluently, then?" I question, and Colette sighs quietly, nodding once more. Satisfied, I casually say "Pourquoi quelqu'un est-il aussi magnifique que toi dans cet endroit ?" (refer to french guide above) The use of perfect French must take the woman rightfully off guard as her step falters and her eyes shoot to mine in an instant. I smile playfully at the expression on her face as she says "Excuse me?" I shrug, leaning back on the wall that conveniently happens to be behind me and say back "Well I thought you said you're fluent." Colette's eyes narrow in suspicion, and she says "Vous etes egalement francais?" I shake my head, saying back "Non. I taught myself when I was very young. Notice the lack of an accent." The redhead's eyes light up in joy, though her face remains impassive. With a hum she glances behind us and back towards where we came from, were it looks like Max and Vandevere are returning to the tent.
Colette and I silently agree to return, but in no time we've managed to start up a conversation in French. I enjoy listening to a native speaker to hear how her lips wrap around each vowel, and she seems to find entertainment in my many slip ups. "Hey, it's been forever since I last conversed in French." I defend, blushing as she gives me an amused look. When we return, our conversation quiets down into nothing as the rest of them speak. I remain by Colette's side until she leaves with Vandevere. My parting words to her are "A bientot, ma cherie." and they make her blush, just a little bit of pink on her neck.
--
I don't think about our visitors much after they leave, until finally we're all rounded up one day, about a week later. Max stands on a makeshift podium and tries to get everyone's attention. I manage to get Joe up on my shoulders as he's shorter than his sister just before the ringleader starts speaking. "Everyone, I have exciting news! I'm sure you all remember Mr. Vandevere and his companion. Well, they have invited us to perform, at his park. This is--this could make us big, this could be our big break!" Max says, and the excitement in his voice is palpable and makes me chuckle despite myself. But then the worry sinks in; clearly this is a ploy of some sort to get Dumbo into the spotlight, but I'm scared it's for far more nefarious reasons than they let on.
My only comfort is the possibility that I'll see Colette again, though I know it's a purely selfish desire. Still, it keeps me from overthinking things too much as everyone slowly wanders away from Max and returns to their duties. I must have zoned out and missed the rest of his speech. So I put Joe down and urge the twins to find their father before approaching Max. Hesitantly, I say his name, causing him to turn and face me with a grin. "Yes, y/n?" He's overly chipper today. "Umm...are you sure we can trust this VA guy? He just...I dunno, he rubs me the wrong way." Max's expression dims into something resembling understanding, and he replies "Of course. What reason would he have for tricking us? Don't worry, y/n, I'm sure all will be fine."
There's a hint of finality in his voice, and I know better than to argue with the man so I simply nod and murmur "yeah...yeah, I guess you're right," and walk back to Dumbo's enclosure to practice some more before we eat.
--
The next days pass in a blur; packing, getting ready to leave, the excited chatter permeating the air constantly and leaving almost no time to breathe without someone cornering you about the trip. It's exhausting and I take every opportunity I can to slip away from the noise. I don't have much stuff, so I'm all ready to go anyway; it's mostly things for Dumbo. But eventually the day comes, and things move so fast that before I know it we're there and getting ready for the introductory parade that VA has planned. I'm pushed around quite a bit, being on the short side in comparison to the older members of the team, and I let out a frustrated whine when I can't find my way to the Farrier family.
"Follow me." A voice is suddenly next to my ear, and someone's hand is on my bicep, making me jump in surprise, but I recognize the silky accent belonging to none other than Colette. I relax slightly and let the woman guide me through the crowd, trusting her to get me where I need to be. She's taller than me, and weaves effortlessly to and fro until we finally arrive at our destination. I blink a few times in surprise, looking to Colette and asking "Are you--are you sure this is where I'm supposed to go?" The woman smiles and nods, pushing me gently towards the fancy car in front of me. I swallow dryly and try to figure out where to sit. Colette does so easily, swinging her legs over the door and sitting down on the back of the seats, beside VA. But there's no other empty spot except between the two, which I doubt I'm meant to occupy.
And yet, Colette once again waves me forward, and when I do so, she grasps onto my hand and pulls me towards her, until I am, in fact, sat between her and Vandevere. It makes my skin burn in embarrassment and anxiety; "Why am I up here?" I ask, and VA quickly says "Why, because you're the star of the show, darling!" I curl in on myself slightly at the endearment, letting out an offended noise and unconsciously sliding closer to VA's fairer counterpart. She chuckles quietly and practically purrs "La petite étoile est-elle mal à l'aise?" It makes me shudder but I push it back and reply "Bien sûr que non. Simplement...peu habitué à l'attention." Colette hums and I notice VA glancing between us with an odd look in his eye. Perhaps he's wary of the fact that we can communicate without his knowledge of our words?
Either way, he looks away moments later and I do my best to ignore his presence. The parade will be starting soon, after all. And it does, nary a minute later, striking up the bands and revving the engines of the cars, and we're off. Colette's arm raises the second we're within sight of the circus-goers, waving beauty pageant style, elegant and smooth. It's so hypnotic that I almost forget to wave myself, though mine is much less confident, and only comes out a few times. Otherwise, my hands lay tightly clasped in my lap. I begin to fidget and squirm in place when the crowd becomes louder, but luckily Holt points something out to Joe and I focus on that instead of the slowly increasing volume of the people. Eventually, I feel a slim arm snake around my back and pull me closer to Colette, and though I look at her in surprise, she doesn't even spare me a glance.
The statement, while taken as encouragement at face value, holds a strange tone. The man didn't say this to encourage Milly, he said it to get between her and her father, I just know it. So he's already started meddling in our business. I must have tensed so hard even Colette can feel, as she leans over to whisper something in my ear, but before she has the chance she sits up quickly as Vandevere leans over as well, getting uncomfortably close to me in the process, and asks the woman "What is it exactly that we do here?" He pauses. "Ma cheri?" His pronunciation of what is normally an elegant statement makes my nose wrinkle in disgust and I lean just that much further into Colette's form as she replies, French accent put on thick, "We make the impossible...possible." VA does a strange motion with his hand and then, thankfully, sits back, giving me space to breathe again without inhaling his too-strong cologne.
Colette's arm remains around my waist for the duration of the ride, until the car disappears under the tent at which point she removes it with one last gentle caress of my hip. I miss her warmth immediately, and soon she gets off the car completely and I shiver. But then she holds out her hand and assists me in getting off myself, giving me a fleeting smile before walking to VA's side. I sigh to myself, put on a forced smile, and follow the group to the castle that will, supposedly, be our new occupation for our stay.
-
The place is huge. Bigger than anything I've ever seen, and even I can't stop my jaw from dropping when I catch sight of the floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, intricate murals and gigantic picture windows that the place holds. I'm so preoccupied with looking at the books, in fact, that I don't hear the others talking until my name is called out, and I spin around with a high pitched "Oh! Sorry!" and a sheepish grin. Colette smirks while the rest look at me with unimpressed amusement. Holt says "Come on y/n, Mr. Vandevere wants to show us something else." I nod, scurrying to his side as VA says "Don't worry, young lady. You'll have plenty of time to read between shows." I hum in acknowledgement, but don't give him any other reaction; I want him to know that I don't trust him.
We move as a group outside once again, walking until we reach a large white building. The sounds of horses prancing about hits my ears and I realize that this is VA's plan; get Holt hooked on the prospect of trick-riding again so he'll do what he wants. Smart, but I'm not fooled. I say nothing as we enter, though I am impressed by the gorgeous white steeds that seem to dance around the place, no doubt training for the next show. My eyes look over the rest of the place, seeing what must be Colette's training equipment, bars and swings that I assume she uses to "fly". The thought of getting to see her practice excites me, but it's cut short when my eyes catch on the last thing in the room.
"Ribbons?" I breathe, eyes going wide and fingers twitching.
It catches Vandevere's attention and he smirks; "Ah yes, you didn't think I forgot about you, did you y/n?" I don't have it in me to respond, gravitating towards the silks that hang from the ceiling. "How did you...?" I trail off as my hands brush the fine material, tugging gently to test how sturdy they are; very. From behind me, I hear VA saying "A little birdy told me you used to have your own act in your little show, long before Dumbo came along. Ribbons, isn't that right?" I nod, still in a daze. Finally I turn to look at them, and I'm sure my emotions are crystal clear in my gaze as a victorious smile stretches across the man's face that I somehow don't notice, too occupied with the idea of flying again.
"I haven't practiced in so long though...surely I couldn't--" "Nonsense. One never loses the ability to fly. Isn't that right, ma cheri?" Colette's nose turns up slightly, but still she nods and sends me a soft smile, mumbling "Exactly." I'm completely unsure of any of this, and in the back of my mind I realize it must be a ploy, but with the ribbons right there, within my grasp...I can't help but squeak "Okay, you got me. I'm in." A menacing smile forms on Vandevere's face and he nods once, stating "Wonderful." before turning back to the rest. I block everything else out after that, focusing solely on the ribbons and letting my mind run wild with images of flipping and turning in the air again, as I used to. The general unease I felt slips away completely and I sigh again, hand clasped tightly around one of the silk ties. Maybe this won't be quite as bad as I thought.
--
"Ma chéri?" A familiar voice sounds from behind me and I spin around, finishing dusting my hands. I had planned to wait on my own practice until Dumbo was trained, but they insisted that Milly and Joe could handle Dumbo with Colette, and I could use the corner as long as my heart desired. And boy did it desire. I notice Colette's eyes flicker down my body, clad in a traditional aerialist's practicing leotard, and it makes my stomach tighten slightly, cheeks heating up in embarrassment. But her gaze returns just as fast to my own, and she smiles, asking "Are you ready?" I laugh nervously and reply "Well...about as ready as I'll ever be." The other woman nods and walks a bit closer, before muttering "Just between you and me...tu es magnifique habillé comme ça."
But as if she'd said nothing she just leans away and finishes with "I have no doubt you'll do wonderfully, no need to be nervous," as Holt and the kids come into the building. I shake myself out and shakily whisper "Y-Yup. Thanks, Colette." And with that I send one last nod towards the Farrier family and Colette, before heading over to my station. With a deep breath, I grab onto them tightly and begin the most basic routine that I remember. Within minutes I'm ten feet in the air, tangled carefully in ribbons. From the outside, it probably looks silly, but if I do this correctly then it'll be worth it. My eyes slide down to the floor, where Colette is waving a feather about, guiding Dumbo to the seesaw that sits there. I hang for a while longer, just watching them until, when Dumbo steps heavily on the raised end of the plank, Colette shoots up into the air and her hands grasp the swing bar tightly.
I let out a sharp gasp and she glances over at me, smiling teasingly before looking away again; I do the same, trying to ignore the brunette (which came as a shock to me, I didn't realize that she didn't actually have red hair, they were simply wigs. Personally, I liked her natural hair more than the fancy waves anyway) and pay attention to my own position, hanging precariously above the ground. I take a deep breath and raise myself a few feet higher before going into what I believe is called a double lock split, hissing quietly at the unfamiliar stretch in my thighs. It's been a long time since I've stretched properly, and I've lost the flexibility that I used to master. With a quiet cough, I raise my arms above my head, grabbing the silk with a white knuckle grip and pulling one leg in, hitting another few poses before going for the real big guns.
As I prepare to do the drop, I suddenly hear a scream and my eyes go wide, head snapping towards Colette, and I watch in slow motion as Dumbo smacks into her and she plummets to the net with a scream. But the sudden movement catches me off balance and I also fall. Much like Colette, I let out a high shriek, praying that I was in the correct position. And my prayers are answered, my body coming to a standstill upside down, my head about a foot above the ground. My chest is heaving and my body is buzzing with adrenaline, but I shakily raise myself up again to a circus seat. That's when I realize everyone's attention is on me, and I give them a shaken up smile, waving casually. "That was so cool," Joe finally whispers, and I can't help but let out a loud laugh, the tension in my body fading instantly.
"Thank you, Joey." I say, getting as comfortable as I can in my silks. Which isn't, admittedly, very comfortable, the ribbons digging into my skin. I glance above me to where the ropes are still tightly tethered to the hooks on the ceiling, letting out a little breath before delicately twirling down and out of the ribbons. I groan when I put weight on my legs, having stretched them out a bit too much with a few of those moves and made them sore. Fingers massaging my thighs, I walk towards the group just as VA walks in, Colette coming to stand beside me. She leans over and mumbles "Are you alright petite étoile? That was quite the drop." Her voice is laced with concern, though her expression stays neutral, and I whisper back "I'm fine, I've done that trick before. I'm just glad I had rigged myself correctly or that could have been bad." and chuckle quietly.
The woman nods and sends me a quick smile before leaning back and walking away, so as to not draw too much suspicion. I tune into the conversation that VA is having with Holt and the kids, as he tells them that the show is coming up. It's tonight?! My eyes go wide and my breath catches; there's no way any of us have practiced enough, and I quickly say "Um, Mr. Vandevere, I don't think Dumbo is quite ready for that." VA gives me a strange look and a mocking smile, replying "Oh no, Dumbo isn't set to perform tonight. His premiere is tomorrow." He pauses, allowing confusion to set in. Then what was he...?
"Yours is tonight."
Oh fuck.
"O-Oh, I don't think--" "Nonsense. I'm sure you can figure something out, you're a smart girl." I'm abruptly cut off and the conversation is ended like that when the man turns away, but I catch Colette's eyes from over his shoulder, who's brows are pulled together in confusion; apparently this is news to her as well. I zone out, falling into my head again as VA finishes gaslighting the rest and leaves. I'm only snapped out of it by hands on my arms, and look down to see Milly looking up at me with a reassuring expression, or what she thinks is reassuring; it reads confusion and worry instead, but still I give her a smile as she says "I'm sure you'll be fine Miss y/n. You've been doing this for years, you just need a few more hours of practice and I bet you'll be just as good as before!" I swallow dryly, tearing up, and lean down to pick the girl up into my arms, holding her tightly and spinning her around as I say "Of course my darling girl. Of course I can."
Milly laughs at that, and when I finally set her down she presses a quick kiss to my cheek and states "We believe in you, right guys?" and looks behind her, prompting the others to nod, Joe saying "yeah!" Holt just nods with a smile and Colette mutters "Bien sûr que nous le faisons, ma chérie." It helps to ground me, and calm me down, so I also nod and roll my shoulders back, preparing for a long day of practice. I have five hours before the show starts, which means four hours of practice and an hour to get ready to perform. I can do this, I've done this before, I remind myself. And I get to work.
-
Colette stays with me the entire day, as she isn't performing that night either, instead waiting until tomorrow when she'll be working with Dumbo. She acts sort of as a spotter, and making sure that I don't overwork myself. If I get injured somehow VA would kill me, probably. So even though I want to push myself as hard as I can, sometimes the brunette still gets me down on the ground, whether it be to take a break to breathe or drink some water, and I can't help but be grateful. I know that if it weren't for her I'd have worked with no breaks the whole day. Finally, an hour and a half before the show is set to start, she calls me down for the last time. I nod down at her, performing the last drop for the end of my planned performance and trying to stay as confident as I can as I get onto the ground with the help of Colette. As she takes my hand, I mumble "Thank you, Colette, really."
She just hums and nods, leading me out of the building. She doesn't let go of my hand, instead intertwining our fingers and holding it a bit tighter. It's a simple comfort, keeping me from getting distracted or thinking too hard about what's to come. We enter the area where performers are preparing to get ready and I plan to head to an empty corner that I can borrow for the time being, but instead Colette pulls me gently towards another room. I realize she's taken me to her personal dressing room when I see her name on the door, and quickly sputter "Colette, I--" She shuts me up with a look and leads me inside. Closing the door behind us, I glance around at the small but strangely cozy room. It's warm lighting contrasts with the chilly air, but it's somehow perfect.
Colette finally lets go of my hand in order to go to walk looks to be a wardrobe of some sort, looking through a bunch of fancy looking leotards and uniforms, all hers no doubt. I stay silent, awkwardly playing with my hands until she returns to me with some fabric clutched in her hands. Quietly, the woman says "Here, you can borrow this. I assume you don't have any of your own, oui?" I clear my throat and reply "Uhm, n-no, I don't. But are you sure that I can use one of yours?" Colette smiles and nods, pushing it into my hands and backing away towards the door, saying "Get dressed, I'll be back in ten," before walking out. I nod to myself and pull myself out of my practice uniform, and carefully put on the leotard that Colette gave me. While not a traditional aerialist's uniform, which would have long, solid sleeves to prevent rope-burn, it fits well and has sleeves made of a thin mesh material which reach to my elbow and end with a delicate pattern.
I can't imagine when Colette would have worn this, since trapeze artists don't usually wear sleeves since they don't have need the to and it can restrict essential movement. But I just shake it off and walk over to the large vanity mirror, framed by lights that make me feel like I'm in Hollywood. I smile but it morphs into a frown when I see the state of the rest of my body. My hair is mussed and my face is flushed from hours or practice. I groan and pull my hair out of it's tie, letting it flow over my shoulders, before beginning to put it back into a simple high-pony. I don't even notice the door opening until hands are placed on my waist and my body is straightened back up. I catch sight of the older woman in the mirror behind me and my breath catches.
Her eyes linger on my form, taking in all the details of how the borrowed uniform fits, hands that are still on my waist tightening into a grip that feels almost...possessive in nature? I push the thought out of my head and try to keep my blush to a minimum when she whispers "You look lovely, chère," her voice huskier than normal and accent thick. I thank her meekly, and she lets go of me after a second, instead bringing her hands to my hair to pull it out of it's messy bun that I had settled for and beginning to work her magic. I'm glad I don't have to wear a wig, I've never liked the feeling of those. I stand still and just watch Colette's focused expression as her hands dart back and forth across the back of my head, tucking and pinning my hair into place for a good ten minutes. But I don't mind, the feeling of her nails occasionally scratching my scalp or neck and her light breathing on my skin making it worth it.
Finally, she's done. Her hands are removed carefully from my now completed hair, and she steps back, asking "You like it?" I turn my head to the side, admiring the intricately done hairstyle, before breathing "It's gorgeous," and turning to face Colette and thank her. But I overestimate how far she had stepped back because suddenly we're inches apart and I can feel her breath on my face and I'd just have to lean forward a few inches to press my lips to hers. My eyes drop down to those lips, parted slightly, before Colette thankfully steps back, giving us a few feet of space between our bodies. I thank the gods she did because if she hadn't then I'd be liable to do something stupid. Like kiss her.
Taking a shaky breath in, I thank her with a slightly cracked voice, and she nods, murmuring "Of course. Now get out there, you have ten minutes." Her tone is firm, but not cruel, and I also nod, quickly pattering out of the dressing room with Colette not far behind me, and head out to the curtain that separates us from the ring where I'll be performing. According to Holt, I'm the main attraction tonight; how I never noticed the posters plastered about this morning featuring a cartoonish rendition of me wrapped in ribbons beats me, but my nerves go on high alert and my heart starts beating faster as I see how many people are already in the stands, and they aren't even all full yet. But both Holt and Colette come to stand on either side of me, and the former whispers "You're gonna do great out there kid."
I smile, thanking him with a grateful look, and Colette agrees with a silent nod. Finally, the time comes, and VA walks up to us just before it starts to "wish me good luck", and it would be nice if it weren't for the fact that, just before I go out, he whispers "try not to mess it up, petite étoile." Him using Colette's nickname for me makes me cringe, fighting the urge to either insult or shove him, simply nodding stiffly and saying "Yup," through clenched teeth. And then the ringmaster is introducing the circus, which is my queue to get out there. I sneak about through the darkness, coming to stand in my place where I know the ribbons will be. The side performances go smoothly, giving me time to breathe and calm down.
"And now, what you've all been waiting for! Ladies and gentleman, I present to you...Y/n, our ribbon's master!" Apparently they hadn't come up with a cool name for me yet, which is fine by me, and I put on a smile as the spotlight pans over to me. With a deep breath, I raise both arms above my head, and feel two silks drop beside them, which I grab onto easily. A second later, my body is leaving the ground, the silks being raised five, ten, fifteen feet into the air before finally stopping. Back arched and toes pointed, I open my eyes and look out over the crowd and begin my act. It goes smoothly, as long as I just pretend that I'm alone, with no one but Colette watching me with her sharp gaze and comforting smile. I keep her face in my mind, focusing only on her and not on my act; I had rehearsed it so many times that day I had it memorized.
And then came the drop, the final move. I set myself up for it, wrapping myself in the ribbons properly before scanning the crowd again, where I catch sight of the other performers from Max's group, sitting in the crowd and smiling up at me. My smile widens and, with a deep breath, I let go of the silk in my hands. A collective gasp is heard from the crowd, even a few high pitched shrieks of terror, as I spiral at break neck speed toward the ground. Just before I should collide with the earth, I stop. The ribbons catch me just as they should, my arms extended and head positioned in a pose. Within moments the crowd erupts into an uproar, some standing and others just clapping excitedly as I finish, setting my feet down on the ground and giving them a showman's bow, and exiting the ring until I'm shrouded in shadows yet again.
The second I'm out of sight my entire persona falls away and leaves me panting and weak. I fall against the wall, taking great heaving breaths to try and calm my racing heart, but I can't even get my breath back before it's knocked out of me again when two small forms collide into me. It rips a laugh from my throat, knowing who they were as I wrap my arms around the twins, watching Holt and Colette, as well as some of the other performers, approach me with wide, impressed smiles on their faces. A chorus of congratulations and compliments are thrown at me, and I thank everyone with a breathy voice, appreciating their words but also wanting nothing more than to sit down. Colette must have realized this as she soon waves everyone away before walking over to me and guiding me away from the rest and back to her dressing room.
Once we enter I finally get to breathe again, shaking slightly with leftover adrenaline. My attention snaps to Colette when she says "You did wonderful tonight, chère. I'm very proud of you," and a proud smile pulls at my lips as I scratch my neck awkwardly, thanking her with a timid voice. She also smiles before asking if I need help with anything, and I nod and ask if she could help with my hair. She does so, motioning for me to sit down at the vanity again before beginning to undo all of her hard work. It stayed in place the entire time, proving just how well done it was. Once she finishes, a small pile of pins on the table now the only proof it was ever there, she walks out to allow me time to change.
I sleep very well that night.
--
The next day passes in a blur of training Dumbo and Colette, and before I know it the show is almost ready to start. Colette, in a stunning golden leotard with a matching headpiece and typical red wig, stands where I stood the night before, glancing outside before walking over to us and Dumbo. She crosses her fingers and says something I can't understand from where I'm at, then looks at me and smiles. It's nervous, a look that I'm not used to seeing on her, so I smile too and walk forward, catching her hands in mine and mumbling "Good luck, mon cœur." The endearment makes her blink a few times, but I don't give her a chance to say a word about it before I'm pushing her gently away. Her eyes stay locked with mine for a moment longer, brows furrowing slightly before the corner of her lips twitch for just a split second. And then she's gone, walking to her position in the darkness.
I watch with rapt attention as Dumbo is also led to the platform, which begins raising as the ringmaster announces him and the spotlight moves to him. He's scared, I can tell from here, but Milly whispers "You can do it Dumbo," and almost as if he can hear her the small elephant looks as if he's steeling himself. It makes me smile in amusement, but soon my attention is pulled to the other performer in this ordeal. "And the one who can ride him...the Queen of the Heavens!' It's a fitting title for Colette, I think, and I stare unabashedly as she strikes her pose slowly before the chandelier-esque device she holds onto is raised. She circles the ring and it approaches the platform which Dumbo is on. She steps onto it with elegance, somehow making everything she does look graceful, but as I look around for a moment I realize something's wrong, very wrong.
I don't know what it is until I finally look down; the nets. They haven't put the nets up. My eyes widen and Holt seems to make the realization at the same time as I, for he quickly runs out and shouts "What the hell are you doing, get the nets out there!" to the people in charge of them. I walk forward quickly, just in time to catch "Change of plans, from above." They're not going to put the nets out, I realize. Nothing Holt says makes them move an inch and eventually he exclaims "Colette! Don't!" The woman is already looking down at us, and I can see the confused, thinly veiled terror glinting in her eyes as they catch mine, just as worried. But my voice is gone and my legs are frozen, unable to yell or do anything. And my heart clenches in fear as Colette seems to collect herself, mounting Dumbo's back and holding out the feather to him.
But he isn't taking it. Dumbo just stares at it, not even taking a step forward for a long moment, as if he knows that something is wrong and refuses to go. I see Colette's lips moving as she says something to him, and finally he takes the feather. It's gonna be okay, I think, maybe this will go fine. Colette says her little thing and claps her hands once, allowing some chalk dust to hit Dumbo's trunk. He looks like he's about to sneeze, but instead of sucking in the feather like he normally would, he simply lets out a little huff of air and the feather floats away. I let out a little noise, eyes trained on the two performers like a hawk. Okay, definitely not going to be fine.
But Dumbo gets his shit together and reaches his trunk out for the feather, and I think that he's about to get it when suddenly he lurches to try and reach it, and time seems to slow. I watch in dread as Colette pitches forward and off of Dumbo's back with a screech. She hangs precariously from the fabric that was being used as a saddle on Dumbo's back, now ripping as Dumbo tries to pull her back up. But he can't, and the fabric rips completely, sending Colette plummeting towards the ground. All the air leaves my lungs and at once I spring into action, bolting forward, and scream "Colette!" I don't even realize that Holt's thrown a rope towards her, but she does and grabs at it, sliding down and luckily slowing her fall. Just before she can hit the ground I skid to a halt and wrap my arms around her tightly, nearly falling over myself in the process.
I feel her body shaking with what I can only assume to be fear as she nearly hyperventilates, arms automatically curling around my neck. I look at her and start to ask "Colette, are you alright?" before she breathes "Oh, petite étoile..." and presses her lips to mine, clasping my face between her hands and holding me against her. I let out a little noise but can't even kiss back before she's pulled away at the sound of Dumbo's distressed cries. We both look up at him in worry, and I see that he's hanging halfway off his platform, trying to climb back up but only slipping further off.
And then he falls and I nearly scream, tightening my arms around Colette's waist in panic, but, just inches from the hard ground, Dumbo flies. His ears catch him and he soars over our heads and begins circling the ring. I let out a relieved breath and sag against Colette, who does nearly the same. We watch as the little elephant soars around, three, four, five times as the crowd cheers wildly, but instead of landing he suddenly turns and speeds out of the tent doors. We hear the faint sound of glass breaking as he presumably leaves the building entirely. I glance warily at Colette, then to the door. I'm unwilling to let her go after what happened but I force myself to give her some space, releasing her and following the kids outside, where we just catch sight of Dumbo disappearing behind the Ferris Wheel. He's heading somewhere, I just don't know where, but I can't do anything except go back inside and awkwardly retreat behind the curtains as Millie and Joe run off after him.
-
I'm still shaking a little bit when I return to the now empty ring, cleared of everyone except the performers who mingle anxiously among themselves. I don't see Colette anywhere, but clench my fists at my sides and walk stiffly over to the rest, making sure everyone's okay; these people may not be part of my team, but they're just as much my family as anyone. When I'm sure that everyone's just shaken up from the events of the show, I finally sneak off to try and find the one person who should be the most shaken. When I finally do find her, she's in her dressing room; I knock on the slightly cracked door, hearing a muffled, weak "I'm busy." I sigh and state "Colette, it's me." There's a too-long moment of silence before she thankfully replies "Come in then." and creep carefully into the room.
I close the door slowly behind me, looking over and finally seeing Colette. She's sitting in the chair by the vanity, elbows on the wood and head in her hands as she tries badly to hide her tears. Walking forward slowly, I keep my voice low so as to not startle her when I say "Do you wanna talk about it?" She doesn't reply, so I just crouch down next to her and place my cheek on her thigh, looking up at her face that's crumpled with anxiety, eyes squeezed shut and tear tracks painting her cheeks. We stay like that for a while, until Colette whispers "I don't know what he was thinking. Why would he have done that to me? To everyone?" I figure she's talking about VA and the nets, so I respond "Because he's a selfish asshole who just uses people for his own gain and doesn't care who gets hurt in the process."
I don't bother to hide my contempt and strong disdain for the man from Colette, which she seems to appreciate as she lets out a tiny, single note laugh. "I'm sorry for what I did, by the way. After you--after you caught me." The woman murmurs, but I just smile, though she can't see it with her eyes still closed, and reach up to brush any residual tears from her pale cheeks. Under my breath, I say "If I was upset I wouldn't have come to see you." Finally Colette's eyes open partly, locking with mine immediately. They search my eyes, then my face, for something, before one of her hands comes to gently rest on my head and drag her fingers through my hair, which drapes over her knee like a waterfall. Her nails scratch my scalp slightly and my eyes flutter, lashes tickling my cheeks slightly.
"Ma petite étoile." Colette breathes, just like she had hours earlier, and I open my eyes fully again, smiling gently and murmuring "Mon cœur." Colette's gaze leaves mine, moving lower on my face, before she dips down towards me. Her lips hover millimeters above mine, hesitating; our shallow breaths mingle together between us for a second and I mutter "Do it." And finally, she closes the distance to firmly presses our lips together. I let out a little breath of air through my nose, turning my head slightly and pressing back. Colette's hand, which was in my hair, drifts towards my face, cupping my cheek protectively, and when I'm able to sit up so she isn't forced to bend down so far the hand that grips my waist once again feels possessive. I don't mind, leaning a little further into the woman's body and allowing her to pull me into her lap.
I settle my hands on her shoulders, and lose myself in the kiss for a while longer until we're forced apart by the need for air. My eyes open at the same time as Colette's, but I break eye contact first as I rest my face in the crook of her neck, pressing a little kiss there before sighing and muttering "I'm sorry you had to go through that. I swear to god, the second I see that man I'm gonna punch him in the face." It makes Colette laugh breathlessly, snaking her arms around my waist and holding me a little tighter as she replies "I don't think that's the best idea, chère. But I appreciate the...eh, dedication?" Though Colette's English is practically perfect, I've noticed she still struggles slightly on some words, saying them with less conviction as she feels them out. I smile against her skin and say "That's a good word for it. Good job. Sentiment works, too."
Colette nods and gives me a quiet thank you, which I just hum to in response. We stay in this position for a while, stealing the occasional kiss every few minutes before separating and just enjoying each other's presence. We only separate completely when a knock is heard against the door, and I yelp quietly and skitter off of the woman's lap. She smirks teasingly, but also stands and straightens herself out, running a hand through her dark hair and messing up her bangs slightly in the process. It makes me giggle into my hand as she walks to the door, opening it a crack to speak to whoever it may be that's on the other side, mumbling quick and quiet words to them before finally leaning back and closing the door.
When she turns to face me again, I say "Well, I should probably be getting back before someone comes looking for me." Yet Colette simply smirks again, walking towards me slowly, like a predator stalking prey, and purrs "Oh they already are. That was Mr. Farrier asking if I knew where you'd gone off to." The tone of her voice makes my breath catch and then speed up, heart racing. Unconsciously I back up, but Colette doesn't stop her approach, still advancing on me with slow and deliberate steps. "They won't be asking here again. Which means that I have you all to myself." Trying to play her game, I mumble "Oh? And what might you have in mind?" Another smirk. Before I know it, I'm cornered against her vanity, and her arms cage me in place as she leans closer to my ear.
"Oh chérie, you won't believe how many things I want to do to you tonight."

“We make the impossible possible” she said with a twinkle in her eye as she showed you the center ring of the big tent. She looked over to you, her newest trapeze addition. “Little thing, aren’t you?” She asks with a smirk, “perfect for flying.”
You look up when she says that, fidgeting nervously under her intense gaze. She reaches over, tucking a hair behind your ear and letting the back of her fingers trail down your cheek.
“But don’t worry ... I’ll catch you if you fall.”
And you were falling ... hard.

The Queen of The Heaven's.
Could only be described as one person, and one person only. A marvellous lady, with high standards. A woman from France. A true star of V.A. Vandervere. The Colette Marchant. Une belle creature. A petite woman flying across the sky, letting her wings guide her. An aerialist.
She was someone every girl looked up to. The one every girl dreamed of once becoming. Every poster and every show. A dream job for every girl. Who wouldn't be star struck when she walked in? But of course, then they remind themselves of who they are. Of what they are, and they're dreams are crushed, forgotten and thrown away. They go on with their lives and never once stop to think about their dreams. This is how the world is and forever will be. As quoted by your own mother.
You never really understood how you got here in the first place. Something about your father knowing Medici and introducing you when you were a child, then your father dying in the war and you growing up trying to earn enough to keep you and your mother alive. Daydreaming of the job at a circus, V.A. Vandervere's circus. Next to Colette. Despite your mother's words, you never stopped dreaming like many other.
You got older and got offered a job, the start of your dream career. An aerialist at Medici's circus. You'd never felt such joy. Certainly not after your father's death. On your journey with the circus, you got to know everyone. The whole family. Just as life seemed to be going well, your mother got sick. You all knew what was going to happen now. You knew there was nothing to do. You felt useless. Hopeless. Unable to do anything as you watched your mother die in front of you. Despite her words, saying she'd be alright. You knew better, knew worse. You were fired up, waiting for someone to shut you down. Thinking someone would gladly do it.
It was like a dream within a dream that had been decoyed. Days went by slowly, as If time stopped around you. The sound of music in your ears but you never once found the artist it belonged to. You moved with the circus, building a family there, growing up there. Becoming the woman, you once dreamed of being for your mother. You'd all known loss. Holt lost his wife. Leaving him with his two kids, Milly and Joe. The poor little elephant Dumbo losing his mother. It made your heart break each time something reminded him of her. You knew what it was like to lose a mother, and so did Milly and Joe.
You hadn't had a party for anything since. You become soft to people you trusted and loved you. Having had your heart broken multiple times, leaving you a mess on the ground. Dirty clothes, dirty hair. Maybe you should think about a new career, as they all said to you. You thought about your future, but you wanted it now. You could crave it, but no one needed to know. They hit you so hard. You saw stars. How'd happiness get so dark?
Once was good enough. They couldn't save you, not that they ever tried to. Always testing to see if you were willing to submit and be manipulated like a good little girl. At least you gave them something to cry about. Maybe your mother would have said you took it too far. You were a lady who didn't wear dresses. Not unless you had to. You wore pants. A stand-alone act. A scandal. You never took it too far. You sold your heart too many times. A lost cause.
-
Summers in the air right now. Months went by. The circus wasn't doing well. You all were trying to keep each other alive. Always thinking out loud. It wasn't anything like it once was. You used to think you were shy, but perhaps you never had anything on your mind. The music that once played in your ears was replaced with a simple tone.
"Daydreaming again?"
people had gathered round outside, everyone just as curious. A fancy looking car pulled up by the banner. You saw Dumbo's ears fall in disappointment. It made your heart throb. You A voice shock you out of your head.
"Jesus Holt! What have I told you about scaring me like that?"
Holy chuckled and sat down next to you. Leaning back against the hay. Watching you as you watched the sunrise. You always did this. Holy always came to join you. It was quiet and peaceful before a storm you never knew was coming before it hit.
"What's on your mind today?"
You looked back at him, giving him a small smile before looking back out. You sighed and let your chin rest on your hand.
"Not much.”
"You're always thinking of something in there. Always leaves you occupied and unfocused when you start. Like now."
Holt nudged your side. Handing you his cup with whatever mixture it was. You looked down at it, almost hesitating to take it. Holt placed the cup in your hand. You took a sip and spit it out again. Not wanting to know what he had mixed into the cup.
"Is this your piss? Don't tell me, not interested."
Holt laughed quietly. Grabbing the cup again. Watching you spit out the leftovers from the liquid.
"You asked Y/N."
"Yuck."
You wiped your mouth with your hand and hit his shoulder. You spent a few more moments in silence. Enjoying the peace and quiet. The sun began to rise and soon enough you could hear the people rise with it. Another day, another life.
"There you are! Y/N!"
You chuckled softly at Joe's enthusiasm.
"Well, good morning to you too Joe."
Joe ran up to you and grabbed your hand, pulling you up and with him.
"Be careful with her Joe!"
You heard Holt shout after you as Joe dragged you towards Dumbo's tent. As you entered you heard a very tired sounding voice. Belonging to Milly.
"Please Dumbo? It's just a wash."
You heard Dumbo's response. It wasn't as enthusiastic as Joe's energy.
"What's going on in here?"
You asked as Joe let you go. Your hands placed firmly on your hips as you watched the current scene before you.
"Dumbo won't get in the bath."
You raised an eyebrow and leant down to Dumbo's level.
"I thought you loved baths Dumbo. All those bubbles."
Dumbo blew air in your face and let out a squeal. You made a 'tsk' sound with your tongue.
"How about you get in the bath for me? I'll even read you a little something later tonight."
It seemed to have worked as sooner or later your baby elephant was in the big wooden bath filled with bubbles. You, Milly, Joe and others from your 'family' were helping each other to wash him. It ended up with you getting splashed with water and bubbles. A joyful moment.
"No where's my star?"
You heard Medici's voice come into the tent. Looking up at him through the loose strands hanging from your up-do.
"Ah, Dumbo! How's your bath? Too warm? Too cold?"
You chuckled softly. Looking down at Dumbo whole scratching behind his ear.
"Might have been warmer if he got in when he was told to, isn't that right Dumbo?”
He let out a squeal and smiled.
"Ladies, make sure his wrinkles don't get wrinkles." Medici spoke with big enthusiasm.
You all continued to wash Dumbo. Making sure his wrinkles didn't get wrinkles. A honk caught you all off guard. You all looked up, even Dumbo. The honk came again, and Dumbo nearly flew out of the bath and with fast steps exited the tent. Stopping a little further away and looking out to wherever the sound was coming from. You saw that knew he thought it was his mother.
"Sorry, Dumbo." Milly said as she rested her hand below his right ear.
"It's not your momma."
"Take Dumbo back inside Milly." You said as you walked up to Holt and Medici, standing next to them.
People gathered around the car, rumbling with an excitement that was radiating off them. Mumbles of words you couldn't make out. A fancy looking man stepped out of the car, his face stern.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please make way for the emperor of enchantment. For the architect of dreams. For the Columbus of Coney Island. Mr. V.A. Vandevere!"
The man spoke with a loud voice as he walked over to the backseats of the car, opening a door. And right he was, V.A. Vandevere stepped out of the car. People gasping around him. Cheering and clapping with happiness.
"And travelling with him, his bright shining star. Colette Marchant, the Queen of the Heavens!"
Out stepped the woman every girl dreamed of becoming. The one and only Colette Marchant. She looked like a true dream. Like a real character from a fairy tale. You stood in shock. She was even more beautiful in person. Her head held high and that smile. Both bowed. You stood frozen in shock until Holt nudged your side. Grabbing your hand and giving it a squeeze before walking up with Medici towards them, turning around when he noticed you weren't walking along with them.
"Oh, no way."
Holt walked back and grabbed your arm and dragged you with him. You felt your nerves tingle.
"Ah, Signore Medici!" Vandevere spoke. Letting go of Colette's hand.
"He knows who I am." Medici said as he looked up at Holt. You were too busy looking at Colette, who caught you staring. She let her eyes glance you up and down before looking away. A smirk on her lips. Enough to make you pass out on the spot, had not Holt held you up.
Vandevere started speaking but you couldn't hear, well you could but you decided not to listen. All your attention focused on one French lady. She caught you again and you quickly looked down, feeling the heat come to your cheeks. Your thoughts spiking the edges of your head, telling yourself to pull yourself together.
"This is our wonderful aerialist, Y/N!"
You looked up, nowhere near intact with the conversation, looking far too confused. Medici grabbed your hand and pulled you forward. Her attention was now on you. Fully.
"My, my. I must admit, she's a charming little piece."
V.A. Vandevere spoke as he grabbed your hand and kissed it. You tried not to grimace. Feeling slightly uncomfortable around him. He was great and all, but he seemed very possessive.
"I'm sure my dear Colette can teach you all her finest tricks." He mentioned towards her.
"That would leave out all my secrets."
The first time you'd heard her speak. Her voice was low and deep, and her accent. What was it about this that made you so enchanted? Magical indeed.
"Well, I'm sure it'll take years again to make her come up to your standards."
Vandevere spoke as he walked past you. It left you shocked. Did he just insult you? Make fun of you? Think you weren't good enough? For him? Who was he to say what you were and weren't good at? You clenched your fists and clenched your jaw. You started counting to twenty. As your father had told you many times before. You hadn't noticed the weird look Colette gave you as she walked past you herself over to Vandevere.
-
You stepped into Dumbo's tent and saw them there. Colette has accidentally ground. Looking down at Dumbo as he reached for the feather on her shoe. She looked far too annoyed. It made you uneasy. Hadn´t she expected this? Had she expected it to be polished and waxed? Like all those floors in dreamland?
You huffed quietly to yourself, crossing your arms and looking away. Unaware of a certain look someone gave you. Colette was watching you. She´d heard you. Her eyes traced you up and down before looking away again. You were something, a special creature.
They disappeared into Medici’s office. Everyone had gathered around. Of course, why shouldn’t they have gathered around? Famous people were around, and everyone wanted a glance at them.
“You seem quiet. Would have imagined you’d be more enthusiastic.”
“What?”
“Yeah, you didn’t seem as happy as I thought you’d be if you ever were able to see the queen of the heavens.”
Holt said as he stood beside you.
You shrugged your shoulders. “What do you mean? That I’m not happy? Of course, I am happy.”
“You don’t seem like it.”
“Could you stop analysing me Holt? Please?”
You pushed him away and turned your back to him. Hearing him chuckled behind you made your lips twitch. Causing a little smile.
“I’m sure she’s person. She’s just living up to her high status.”
“That doesn’t give her an excuse to act better than everyone else Holt.”
Holt shook his shoulders. Put his arm around your waist and gave you a side hug. Squeezing your hip softly as reassurance. You leant against him, laying your head on his shoulder. If people who didn’t know you and Holt, they’d probably say you’d look like a couple. By the way you were standing close to each other, how you were relaxed in his arms. You didn’t blame them. In the beginning there might have been a flame, but now after such a long time and the sorrow from each other’s losses; it never really happened.
You had kissed before. New years eve kiss. It was a few single kisses. Nothing more. It felt odd. The thought of a relationship with Holt. Not that you hadn’t thought about it. Of course, you had. He had too. It just didn’t feel right. You were family. Close, but not that close.
You hadn’t noticed when V.A. Vandevere and Colette walk out from Medici’s office, but she sure noticed you and Holt. As soon as she stepped out, she saw you curled up in his arms, him kissing your head, rubbing your arm. Were you together? Colette felt her whole body stiffen. Her jaw clenched in disgust, public PDA. She’d apparently stood still. She felt V.A. tug her with him. Almost tripping. His grip on her arm tight as he leant in,
“Pull yourself together.”
Colette took once last glance at you and Holt. The sight shocked her. She had no reason to be. After all she didn’t know you. You and Holt were looking up at each other, he made you laugh. Your laugh was beautiful. She was in the middle of love. Something about you caught her attention but she knew that she could never have you fully without your guilt.
-
You were moving to Dreamland. You were still kind of mad about it. What was in it for you and the others? You’d had many arguments with both Holt and Medici about it. Not believing Vandevere’s words. Believing that he was full of shit. You apparently didn’t have any choice but to follow along as they moved with them to Dreamland.
You sat next to Holt, who sat next to his kids. Colette sat behind you, and you felt the tips of her heels pressing into your lower back. The whole ride was the same. Her heels right on your lower back. You were sure they’d leave a mark. You had turned around and given her a glare when you first left your home, but she hadn’t moved at all. She just raised her eyebrow at you. There was something about her that made you confused. She was teasing you, daring you to say something about her heels digging into the lower level of your back but you never did say anything. What were you going to say?
You arrived in Dreamland, a whole parade welcoming you. It was beautiful. It wasn’t what you had imagined. It was bigger than you had imagined. Roller coasters, museums and a big tent. Tall buildings. Signs with Colette’s name on them, with her different shows. As a girl you dreamed of seeing this. You couldn’t understand why you weren’t happy about it now.
You heard Colette speak to Vandevere.
“We make the impossible possible.”
She was waving around to people as she said it. That saying ticked something inside you. Holt noticed.
“Your brain is ticking. What you got?”
You turned to him, the space being too small, your noses touching almost.
“All of this seems unrealistic.”
“The little girl inside of you wake up yet?” Holt said smiling.
You chuckled at him and laid your head on his shoulder, grabbing his hand in yours. Of course, the one hand he had left. You felt eyes bore into your back. You were sure they were Colette’s.
The ride stopped. You got out like everybody else, grabbed a hold of Milly’s hand. You started walking with them when a hand grabbed your arm, pulling you back.
“My dear, you will follow Colette into the tent while the others look at where you will live from now on.”
You knitted your brows in confusion. “What? Why?”
Vandevere chuckled at you and dragged you along with him towards the “training” area. His hard grip on your arm making you wince slightly. You were sure it’ll leave bruises.
“Now, why don’t you two lovely ladies get to know each other while I take care of business hm?” With a creepy grin he left. Leaving an awkward tension between you and Colette. You decided to take the first step. You held out your hand but then took it back quickly.
“I do apologise. I forgot for a moment you were French.”
Colette looked you up and down and hummed. She placed her hand warmer or whatever it was down and slowly held out her hand to you.
“If you want to shake my hand, I’ll let you.”
Her French accent kicking through. It was a mysterious accent. It made you want to hear more of it, especially her. You slowly grabbed her hand only to be pulled towards her. You let out a small gasp as you found your balance again. Her eyes looking into yours, her nose barely touching yours. A slight blush crept up your throat as Colette leaned over to your cheek and gave it a kiss and did the same to your other one.
“I am Colette Marchant.”
Your throat felt suddenly dry. She hadn’t pulled back. Her still looking deeply into yours. Waiting for an answer. You cleared your throat.
“I’m Y/N.”
“Ravi de vous rencontrer, Y/N.“
“Le plaisir est à moi. “
Colette raised an eyebrow and smirked.
“She speaks French.”
You smiled softly and nodded. “My uncle was French. I meet him a few times before he passed away.”
You sat down on one of the benches and leaned back. Watching as Colette took off her head piece. She caught you starring, and you looked away.
“So, you and Mr. Holt?”
It took you a while to realise what she had said.
“What? NO.”
Colette raised an eyebrow and only then you realised you shouted.
“Sorry. No. We’re not a couple. We perhaps were at some point, but I don’t know.”
“You don’t know if you were together or not?”
“No, yes. Don’t twist my words.”
Colette raised an eyebrow again. “But you do like him?”
You shrugged your shoulders. “Perhaps once. We were something before, that I am sure of. You don’t go around kissing strangers on the mouth, but I guess we were both too heartbroken and in sorrow to ever let it really bloom.”
Colette sat down next to you. She hesitantly grabbed your hand and held it in hers. Looking up at you. Her eyes glistering in the light.
“I understand where you came from. I know it myself.”
You gave her hand a soft squeeze and gave her a soft smile. This time you didn’t shy away when admiring her. Her bright blue eyes, the small freckles across her skin. Her skin was soft, warm and pale.
Time seemed to stop. The air in your lungs run out. Everything else disappear other than her eyes. Those bright eyes. The soft touches of her hand. You felt your heart stop when she started leaning in. What was happening?
“What is going on- “
You started out softly but was cut off by her lips on yours. The moment shocked you. Her lips were softer than a feather, red as a rose. Her hand cupped your cheek softly, turning more to as the kiss continued. The kiss started slow and unsure. Who would have thought? You and the Queen of the Heavens. The kiss became safe and more daring. Her hand moving down to your neck, pulling you closer and into a deeper kiss. The kiss turned slightly wet. French kissing. You heard Colette let out a sigh, making you pull back. You looked down and noticed your hand on her thigh. Both panting with need. Desperate. You meet her eyes once more and saw her eyes darken and clouding with lust. Colette leaned in again when you stopped her. She looked disappointed. You took your bottom lip in between your teeth and blushed.
Holt walked into the white tent with the others, seeing you and Colette. Colette was leaning over to you, whispering something in your ear that made you blush and look away. Colette kissed your cheek before she got up and walked over to Vandevere. He saw you fumble with your shirt, then rub your hands against your pants before getting up yourself and walking over to him.
-
You looked up from your novel and into the mirror and nearly had a heart attack.
“Jesus Christ all fucking mighty Holt.”
“HA.”
Holt was sitting on your now bed. You hadn’t heard him come in at all. Too deep in your journal. Holding your hand to your chest. Taking one deep breath before hitting him with your journal.
“Bloody bastard.”
Holt chuckled and pulled you down on his lap. Wrapping his arm around your waist, not being able to hold you down but still tickling you. You let out a laugh and wiggled out of his one arm grip. Landing on the floor. Laying down on your back, looking up at the celling.
“What did she say to you?” Holt said after a while.
“Hm?”
“Colette. She whispered something to you when we came into the tent. What was it?”
You felt your cheeks grow hot.
“Oh, nothing really.”
Holt raised an eyebrow.
“Then how come you were nearly as red as her hair?”
You stood up and looked out the window. Looking down at Dreamland. It looked magical. All the lights shining up the whole park. It was just like you dreamed of as a kid. Even more beautiful. You still couldn’t understand why you weren’t happy about it. You felt a hand on your hip and jumped a little.
“No need to be frightened. It’s only me.”
You sighed softly and leant back against him. Resting your head on his shoulder. His arm wrapped itself around you. Giving your hip a soft squeeze.
“I missed you.”
You scoffed.
“And you, Mr. Holt, are a hopeless romantic.”
Holt chuckled and kissed your shoulder.
“You okay Y/N?”
You nodded your head. Looking out through the window again. Looking up at the sky, at all the stars that lit the whole thing up. Both of you started softly swaying to the non-existent music. A moment in peace. A moment that could not be ruined. Or so you thought.
--
Part of no return huh? Was it all just one big mistake? A big wate of time and your life? That moment when speech disappears into silence. In your mind you’d already imagined everything.
Months had passed. It went great in the beginning, but as the story goes; no good people get happy endings. Being kind doesn’t get you anywhere. All you wanted was a place where someone wanted you to be. It was all you asked. Clearly that was too high of a demand.
Colette and you formed a good relationship. You even dared to think of all different kinds of possibilities.
It went from nice to bad. From great to worse. You think you’d thought out everything by now, but do you ever really know everything?
You went from having a great relationship with everyone to them barely noticing you. Milly and Joe being more interested in Colette, even Holt. Everyone had eyes for her. Who were you kidding? Even you did.
You sat on your bed in your bedroom. Looking out through the window. It was pouring outside. The clouds looked dark and heavy. Just like the ache in your heart. Despite the hard times and everything, you kept your head up. Smiled when it hurt, laughed if needed. You gave it your all, even if it took a piece of you every time.
There was a knock on the door that brought you back from your headspace. It took you a while to move from your place on the bed. Inpatient knocks on the door continued. You sighed heavily and got up and walked to the door. You opened the door only a little, not wanting to let anyone in.
“Finally! I was starting to think you were ignoring me for a second, mon amour.”
Colette.
You gave her a small smile.
“No, I wasn’t ignoring you. I am just tired. That’s all.”
Colette pushed herself through the door and you felt your body tense in discomfort. She looked around. She let out a sigh.
“Is this what you’ve been living in? so depressing Y/N. you have to let in some air, or you’ll suffocate.”
It already felt as if you were suffocating.
You wrapped your arms around yourself in a protective manner and looked anywhere put Colette. She noticed it of course.
“You alright Y/N?”
“Yeah. I’m fine.”
“Don’t lie to me.”
She stepped closer to you, but you stopped back. Walked back over to the window.
“What more can I do than lie these days? It’s not like any of you would care.”
“Rien de tout ça maintenant.”
You shock your head. Nearly laughing at her.
“You don’t get to tell me what to do, Madame Marchant. None of you do.”
You felt Colette take a few steps closer to you. You didn’t move at all. You just kept watching the rain fall.
“You don’t bring me flowers anymore.”
“Well, you hardly talk to me anymore.” You said as you turned around to face her.
“It used to be so natural to talk to you. All the things you taught me. I learned how to love, and I learned how to lie.” You had turned around again.
“I used to think it was a funny feeling inside, and I wasn’t one of those who could easily hide it. I thought you knew that. Just a notion.” You let out a deep sigh.
“Y/N you should really stop this- “
“Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot I only exist when you need for something.”
Colette was getting furious. What on earth was happening to you?
“What is happening to you? Why are you so off?”
“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t know you had the right to judge me. Who are you? God?”
You saw the surprised expression Colette suddenly had. She was taken aback. At loss of words. You snorted.
“I’m sorry you don’t like my honesty Colette, but to be honest; I don’t like your lies.”
Colette gasped dramatically. “Lies?! De quoi parlez-vous ?!”
You wanted her to leave. You wanted her to hug you.
The door opened and it startled you both.
“How do you do? I see you’ve met my faithful, handywoman.”
V.A. Vandevere.
He laughed as he walked in. Wrapping his arm around Colette’s waist.
“Handywoman?”
“Yes well. You can never be as great as my own star here now, can you?”
He hushed Colette. Smiled wickedly at you. Looked you up and down. Looking far too pleased with himself. You felt disgusted. Betrayed. The next moments passed by in a blank. He left. She stayed. You sat down on the bed again. You heard Colette speaking but you didn’t listen.
“I don’t care if the world knows my name. I just want you to remember me.”
That made you snap back. You looked over at her. She was trembling. Tears in her eyes. Anger and sadness.
“What?”
“Oh, don’t act like that. You know perfectly well what that means.”
“I am not sure. How should I know when all I’ve seen for the past weeks is a snobby French lady who doesn’t care shit about what others think.”
Colette gasped dramatically. It made you laugh. She was so full of herself. You weren’t surprised anymore.
“You know, I didn’t want to come here. When we arrived and when we shared that little moment, you made it interesting. You made ‘this’ life more interesting. I’ve never been the one to like sneaking around, specially not when it comes with love or whatever this was- “
“You loved me?” Colette’s voice was small and quiet. Her shoulders dropped. Her eyes changed look.
“No, I – that wasn’t what I meant.”
“Did you love me?” Colette’s tone got louder.
“Colette- “
“Did you?!”
Her voice nearly a cry. The veins in her neck strained themselves. The looks on her face was desperate. You could hate her all you want, want her gone from you. You knew the truth. She knew the truth. The silence told Colette everything. As for a minute, she let her mask and all her walls fall, then they were back up in no time. Her posture back and that mask on her face.
“Colette- “
“Ne commencez pas.”
“I – “
“Je te Je te préviens.”
“Je essayé.”
A thick silence. Minutes passed, something that felt like forever. Like time stopped. Colette looked at you and you looked at her. The next thing you know is her lips against yours. Her hands in your hair, around your shoulders, your waist. Everywhere.
Everything was just her. It had always been just her. Your mother always called you a feather. You were light and soft. She would caress your cheek many times a day. Tell you just how much she loved you. Colette on the other hand was a rose. Strong, picky and beautiful. In some odd way, you fit together. The Feather & the Rose.

Your eyes followed her movements through the air, bobbing in time with each release from the bar. She looked weightless when suspended in midair. For a split second your heart would rise to your throat, worried that her fingers would miss the next one. Your worry wouldn’t quell until her hands had wrapped around it.
Everytime you resisted the urge to cheer. She was the most beautiful woman you’d ever known, her form brimming with so much power. No one could ever guess the strength it took to become so weightless. Her lithe form gave nothing away.
Swinging between the two bars once more, she dropped into the net. The undignified way she had to roll from the net made you grin, but you didn’t dare let a laugh escape. You had learned your lesson on doing so; never insult a French woman’s pride.
“So?” Colette asked, holding out her hand for a towel.
“Your form was excellent as always,” You complimented, handing her said towel, “but point your toes more.”
“If I point them more, they’ll remain that way, mon chérie.”
She shook her head with a laugh, handing the towel back to you. There was a smile on her face, but the look in her eye told you that she’d be taking it under advisement. It was a look of wounded pride. She was proud of always being the best, the most elite - any sign otherwise made her obsessive after.
“It’s only noticeable if you really look for it.” You offered with a shrug.
If you played it off, you hoped she’d let it go. You knew how she’d get otherwise. The first few days would be as if nothing happened, but then she’d casually ask for feedback about it one day. You would be expected to give that same feedback until she felt she’d gotten it right.
Better you to comment on it than someone else; namely, Vandervere. With you taking notice, the worry would fade out eventually after some weeks. She’d be aware of it still, but it wouldn’t bother her. Her confidence in the control of her form would return. If Vandervere noticed, she would never let go of it, picking and prodding at the imperfection until it created a scar. You couldn’t stand to see her so miserable again.
“But you were looking for it, non?” Colette said with a raised eyebrow. Her jaw had already set with tension.
“Colette, I’m trying to give you help. It’s my purpose to focus on the details.”
“Details. You mean imperfections?”
“As if you could have any imperfections,” You scoffed, shaking your head. The comment drew visible interest, but you kept going, “Your form was excellent, like always. I had to critique something or my purpose here remains unfulfilled.”
Colette sighed and came to sit next to you, nudging your shoulder with her own. She had an apologetic smile on her face.
“Of course. Your words are appreciated.” She said softly.
You smiled, ready to say thank you, when the large door to the building slid open. One of Vandervere’s men stepped in with a drawn expression, not that they ever had a different look.
“Miss Marchant, it’s time for your hair and makeup.” He said, turning and leaving without offering you a glance.
The comfortable, smiling Colette had vanished. In her place was an emotionless woman you didn’t know. You tried to offer her a smile, but it had no effect.
“Thank you for your help, chérie.” Colette said, pressing a kiss to your cheek before leaving the building.
She rolled her shoulders back and stood tall, with little movement in her frame as she left. You sighed, a pang in your heart at her state. The afternoon had been so comfortable and fun, trust someone else to ruin her brief moment of happiness.
You watched closely during her performance that night. Her form was completely flawless, you watched every single move with a big smile. Her gaze never left anything she was doing. Your smile dimmed somewhat, wishing she’d look out for you like she normally did. She would only offer a wink or a smile, but it’d be the highlight of your evening.
The crowd exploded before she disappeared behind the curtain. You held the same enthusiasm about her performance, disappearing backstage as well to speak with her. She was sat at her makeup table with a frown, tugging at her wig with a growl.
You wasted no time in sauntering over and wrapping your arms around her from behind. She froze, before relaxing with a tense smile.
“You were brilliant. Completely flawless, like I knew you would be,” You complimented. It earned you a more joyful smile, which you counted as a win, “And to celebrate such a performance, I think a little wine is in order.”
“None for me, chérie, it will affect me tomorrow.” She said softly.
“Colette…” You sighed, “You deserve to celebrate.”
One glass of wine was common when she’d given a particularly good show. It was truly rare for her to refuse it, given how little you opened a bottle. You wondered what had been said to her that was leaving her so upset.
“Another time.” She murmured without meeting your eyes. It was a lost cause.
“Alright. I’ll see you tomorrow.” You smiled, giving her a small squeeze.
Despite her reluctance, you still took the bottle of wine into the aerialist building, on the chance that she did decide to join you. It was quiet now that everyone had left the circus and the performers were settling in for the night. The building felt empty without her here, but you stuck around in hopes of her showing.
You were halfway through your glass of wine when the door slid open and she stepped in. Sitting up straighter, you took in her exhaustion and eagerly poured her glass.
“You came.” You smiled, holding out the glass.
“I did.” She sighed, taking the glass and sitting down at your side, “Merci.”
“Are you tired?”
“No more than normal.”
“Mm, it must be exhausting to be so perfect all the time.” You laughed.
Colette grinned and shook her head, swatting at your arm lightly. A soft silence filled the space and you watched her with a smile. You could never get over how beautiful she was, or how kind. Seeing her gave you butterflies every time.
You weren’t sure you could ever tell her how you felt, though every fiber of your being wanted to. Every time she smiled you wanted to throw your arms around her and kiss her senseless. When she smiled at you, you swore that you could fly almost as well as she could.
A comfortable feeling wrapped around both of you. After a night so full of noise, it was a welcome reprieve. You leant against her, which earned you another smile. The noises of the world would filter into the building every now and again, but otherwise the two of you were alone with the silence.
When she finally finished her glass of wine, she sighed. That was her cue.
“Don’t stay out too late, mon cœur.” Colette said softly, before pressing a lingering kiss to your cheek.
You hummed, leaning into the soft lips on your skin. The urge to lean into her and make her stay was immense, but you couldn’t justify it. You watched her go with a wistful smile.
The bottle clinked against your glass when you refilled it. One was the normal amount, but you felt in need of the extra. You felt your heart ache everytime Colette left you and tonight the wine dulled the feeling.
Confessing feelings had never been an intention of yours. Hell, catching feelings had never been an intention. Then a beautiful french woman flew into your life and shook everything up. Now, you were stuck.
There was no one Colette spared a second glance in the time you knew her. Being wrapped up in performing and playing the role Vandervere wanted didn’t allow for it. You wondered if she would give you any thought, but it led down a painful road you didn’t want to deal with. So you accepted your role as her friend. Any part of her life was better than nothing, but an extra glass of wine did ease some of the ache.
It would be no good after a few days, but you popped the cork back in the wine bottle anyway. Maybe you could convince Colette to share another glass so soon. As of late, she seemed more than willing to engage in a drink, if it meant ignoring the stresses of Dreamland.
You fell into an easy sleep, lulled by the warm feeling of the wine and dreams of the alluring french woman you adored.
As you slept, you felt almost weightless. You were floating, or flying. An incessant knocking on the door to your rooms broke you from your sleep. Rolling over, you groaned against the pillows. You hadn’t drank enough water after your second glass of wine and now a small headache was building.
The knocking continued at the same frantic pace. You rolled out of bed, wrapping yourself in a plush robe.
“I’m coming!” You shouted, wincing lightly at the echo that followed.
Despite your words, the knocking continued until you ripped the door open. Venomous words sat on your tongue until you came face-to-face with a very angry looking Colette.
“What are you doing?” She snapped out, arms crossing over her chest.
“Until you decided to break my door down, I was sleeping,” You replied, shaking your head, “I mean honestly, Dumbo would make less noise.”
Her nose crinkled and you know she was going to give you hell, but the move was so adorable that you didn’t entirely care. Without warning, she brushed past you into your chambers, looking around intently.
“You were not there for training.” Colette accused, ignoring your remarks, “You are always there. Have you grown bored already? Or is aiding me too much to handle?”
It was then that you noticed her appearance. Her hair was mussed and cheeks pink, skin covered in a thin sheen of sweat. She’d come immediately from her time training to you. You must have really pissed her off, the walk from the facilities to your rooms was a long one.
Her comments sank in and left you speechless. Your brain was foggy with sleep and remnants of the wine from hours before. When you opened your mouth, you said the worst thing possible in this situation, “Colette, you’re overreacting. I overslept, there’s nothing more to it.”
“Overreacting? Toi petit… Overreacting!” She scoffed with an eye roll, “I come to express worry and you tell me I overreacted.”
“You’re throwing accusations at me, it didn’t exactly feel like worry!”
Colette threw her hands up dramatically, making a turn around the room, muttering angrily under her breath. You felt completely at a loss. One second you’re dreaming, the next you’re in the middle of a scuffle you’re not understanding.
She turned to face you and you caught a glimpse into her eyes. They weren’t the normal, tranquil blues you knew. They were dark and stormy. A tinge of something else creeped in and you understood what had prompted this.
“What did he say to you?” You said softly.
Her eyes met yours, but then she looked away, “Nothing I didn’t know, chérie.”
“Colette, that… man knows nothing about you or about what you do. He could never pull off half of what you do every night.”
“You’re biased.”
“I am not.”
“You are. Your love for me clouds your judgement.” Colette sighed.
Your entire body froze and your face dropped. The words felt like an echo in your ears, rattling around unpleasantly in your brain. How did she know? Had you been so obvious this entire time?
“Colette, I…” You started pleadingly, before realizing you had nothing to say.
“He was there when I arrived, saying he wished to see me practice. I waited for you, you’re always present when I need you, but then you never came. I was alone with that cafard and I,” She stopped, then muttered under her breath, “Tout ce que voulais c’était toi.”
“You know I don’t speak french.” You whispered, your voice shaking.
“All I wanted was you.” Colette breathed, looking impossibly vulnerable, “Mon cœur, who has loved me for so long and made no attempts on me, who keeps me safe.”
“I wanted to tell you, but I was afraid of losing you.”
“Losing me? Never.”
She held out a hand for you, which you took. You pulled her close without a word, placing a hand on her cheek. She smiled and leaned into the touch.
“Can I kiss you?” You asked.
Colette nodded, eyes darting to your lips as she licked her own. Your knees went weak. All she had to do was breathe and you were putty in her hands. Taking a deep breath, you pulled her into you gently, capturing her lips with your own.
She leant into the kiss and pressed further against you, letting out a moan into your mouth. Your arm, which you’d wrapped around her waist, tightened. Digging your fingers into her dress, you anchored her.
Her lips were softer than you imagined. You had only known the faint press of them on your cheek, now they were moving on your own. Hands tangled in your hair and nails scratched lightly at your scalp, but it was a faint sensation. All of your senses were overwhelmed by her.
Pulling away, your chest heaved with the effort of catching your breath. You wondered how long you’d been kissing her. The sight of her bright eyes boring into yours cut the thought short, making you lick your lips.
“I may need to miss training more often if this is what I receive.” You joked. Her eyes darkened slightly, but the humor of her mood was still present.
“Don’t you dare.” Colette warned.
You held up your hands in surrender, pulling a grin from the woman. It made your heart leap every time. You had done that, you were the cause of her smile - it was an intoxicating feeling.
“I wouldn’t dream of it.” You said honestly, stealing another kiss.
She allowed the kiss, pulling away from you after. You frowned. Have you done something wrong already? The calm expression on her face put those fears to rest.
“I’ll see you tonight.” Colette said.
“Tonight? What about the time between shows?” You asked.
“Show for training and then we can continue this.”
The teasing smile she sported made you laugh. She swept out of the room with all of her normal glamour, despite the lack of shining jewels. You touched your lips, still tingling from your too-short kisses.
Where others would call Colette cruel for her actions, you could do no such thing. The woman was a dream come true and good things come to those who wait.

The day Mr. Medici bought Mrs. Jumbo was one of the happiest of your life. Not only would you have new creatures to care for, but a baby as well. You’d never seen a baby elephant before.
Luckily, Holt returned to the circus around the same time. You had more room to focus on Mrs. Jumbo and her coming baby, though you did care for Annie's children quite a bit still. The arrival of such splendid creatures was slowly returning you to yourself, rather than who you’d become after her death.
“Hey uh, Y/N?” Holt interrupted you suddenly, “Can I talk to you about something?”
Slowly, you nodded, beckoning him into the crate with you. Mrs. Jumbo took one look at him and huffed, turning her attention back to you. You let out a small laugh as she mussed your hair with her trunk. Slyly, you slipped her a few peanuts with a smile and a kiss between her eyes.
“Look, Max told me all you did - for Annie, I mean. I know it wasn’t easy. So thank you for doing what I couldn’t.” Holt said awkwardly.
It was as if he’d dumped a bucket of ice cold water over your head. All of the progress you’d made moving forward and forgiving yourself vanished, sending you back to square one. Back to the feeling of total and complete self-loathing. Your smile vanished.
“Do not thank me. If I’d been better, Annie would still be here.” You said very seriously, refusing to look at him. Seeking comfort, you ran a hand over Mrs. Jumbo’s head. She nudged you sweetly.
“Now I’m sure that isn’t true-”
“It is. I accept my part in it, Holt, let’s not poke at it any longer.”
Holt Farrier had never been very good with emotions. So rather than push the conversation, he turned and left, leaving you to your sadness. Your loathing. The overwhelming feeling that you had failed at the only thing that mattered.
It was days before anyone saw you after that. You scarcely left the elephants and you certainly didn’t speak to anyone. Rongo and Pramesh attempted, but to no luck. There was only silence until the day Mrs. Jumbo gave birth.
You’d left her for a split second to freshen up, and when you returned she was surrounded by people. Then you saw the baby tumble out of the crate. You pushed your way through all of them, shoving Rufus away from the elephants. He was only hurting them.
“Watch it, little lady,” Rufus growled, “I’m just doing my job.”
All you offered him was a hard glare, before finally laying your eyes on Mrs. Jumbo’s baby. His big blue eyes looked around nervously as Max Medici raged over his ears. But where he was angry, you fell in love with the elephant. He was perfect to you.
Slowly, you approached him, crouching so you were at eye level. He shied away behind his ears. You waited patiently, a calm smile on your face. Every few moments, he would peer out and peek at you. Until finally he moved forward curiously.
You rubbed gently down his face, maintaining your calm demeanor. He had clearly been spooked by all of the people. Especially how loud they were being. But he leaned into your gentle touch, letting out a happy noise.
“Welcome to the world, beautiful boy. I’ve been waiting for you.” You whispered so only he could hear, before pressing a kiss to his head. He let out a happy squeal and snuggled closer to you.
And thus began your close friendship with baby Dumbo.
----
“Hey, Y/N?” Rongo caught your attention, “Some important looking people went to see Dumbo. I think you should be there too.”
Brows furrowing, you nodded, picking up your pace and heading in the direction of Dumbo’s tent. How could Max invite people to see him without you? You had cared for him the whole time. He was more to you than he was to the rest of them.
You burst into the tent, worried that something was going on. Milly and Joe were there, along with Max, and two people you didn’t recognize; a slimy looking man with white hair and the most beautiful woman you’d ever seen. Though you didn’t let yourself focus on her for too long, worried entirely for your little elephant.
Dumbo squealed excitedly when he saw you. Stumbling over his ears, he moved to your side, intent on cuddling into your side. You gave him a loving smile.
“This is the woman of the hour! May I introduce Miss Y/N Y/L/N, Dumbo’s caretaker.” Max Medici said grandly, making you look up from where you were playing with Dumbo.
“Ah, the miracle worker. A pleasure.” The man said, holding out his hand.
You’d barely heard him speak, but you already disliked him. The way he looked at Dumbo with dollar signs in his eyes, or how he had a condescending way about him. You just glared at the offered hand; which he rescinded without fanfare.
Behind him, the woman’s eyebrow raised curiously. You briefly made eye contact with her, though you were distracted by Max and the slimy man walking off to talk business. Then the tent suddenly felt too small with everyone in it.
“Come on, Dumbo.” You said softly, before turning to leave, said elephant hot on your heels.
The woman watched you leave with a curious look. You were the most capable woman in the room and yet you had no care for any attention. All you cared about was the elephant, Dumbo.
He had caught her attention, but you’d caught her interest. A hard feat for someone who seemingly had it all. But something about you drew her in. She was determined to get to know you.
——
“So you are the one who cares for Dumbo?”
She caught your attention as you were walking with said elephant, matching your pace. You didn’t really look at her. Instead, your gaze was focused ahead. Though you did give her a nod.
“My name is Colette, Colette Marchant.” She said, holding out a hand.
You looked up at her, meeting her eyes fully for the first time. You recognized the name. Though you’d never seen her face, you heard wondrous tales about the ‘Queen of The Heavens.’
“Pleased to meet you.” You said quietly, taking her hand.
“The pleasure is all mine.” Colette said, offering a charming smile.
You offered a small, shy smile in return. There was a worry that the beautiful woman would press for more, but she never did. You let out a sigh of relief.
“They say you taught Dumbo to fly, non?”
“Oh, no,” You said softly, “He knew how to fly, I merely offered encouragement.”
“How does he do it?” She questioned curiously.
Rather than give her a verbal response, you pulled a beautiful pink feather out of your pocket. Dumbo caught sight of it instantly. Excitedly, he moved towards you and the feather. You crouched down and held it out to him. He inspected it with obvious glee, before accidentally sucking it into his trunk.
You took a quick step back as he let out a bit of a huff, before sneezing and letting the feather fly. The amount of air shot him off of the ground, where he maintained his flight with his ears. He excitedly flew around you, chasing the feather.
Colette had taken a few steps back in shock, watching the little elephant in wonder. Her eyes widened and she let out an awed breath.
“No wonder you were fond of my shoes.” Colette said to the elephant once he was back on the ground.
“He does love feathers.” You agreed, gaining a small smile from the french woman.
The two of you stood there for a few moments, looking at one another in interest. But before you could work up the courage to say anything more to her, the moment was shattered. Vandervere had come back around. The gleeful look on his face made you feel ill inside.
“Come, Ma chérie,” He said to Colette, badly pronouncing the french, “It’s time for us to go.”
Her form stiffened as he put an arm around her waist. Though she nodded, you could see that she didn’t want to go. She gave you a nod as she departed, leaving you and Dumbo staring after her. And a weird feeling swirling inside you.
----
Over the past few days, you’d been working closely with the french woman to perfect your act. You weren’t fond of the idea, but you lost your say. Vandvere’s word was law. Colette was to ride on Dumbo’s back as he flew around the large tent; The Queen of The Heavens and The Prince of Elephants, together in flight.
Though you disliked the act, you had liked spending time with Colette. She was patient and kind, never forcing you to speak if you felt uncomfortable. Not to mention she was stunningly beautiful. You found yourself entranced by her at all times.
Now as the show was beginning, you felt nervous. Something felt off about the tent. It could have been the sheer size and amount of people, but it was more than that. Something was missing.
As Colette was lifted up to the platform with Dumbo, you realized there were no nets. It left you feeling sick. What if something happened? A jump like that would kill her.
You rushed to demand the men with nets put them up, but the damage had already been done. The crowd let out a gasp and you heard Colette’s shriek. She was barely hanging by the covering on Dumbo’s head, dangling perilously over the side of the platform.
“Put up the nets!” You yelled at the men, but they refused to listen.
The sickening sound of ripping fabric echoed in the space, before Colette let out a fearful shriek. You didn’t hesitate to run underneath where she was, looking to cushion her fall in anyway you could. It felt as if her safety was resting on your shoulders.
She managed to make it to the ground okay, thanks to the fabric snagging on another part of the platform, softening her fall. And she fell right into your arms.
“Colette!” You said worriedly, pulling her into you.
“Oh, ma chérie.” It came out as a gasp, before she buried her face in your neck. Her frame was shaking in your arms and there was the wetness of tears on your neck.
“You’re okay, you’re okay. I caught you.” You whispered to the shaking woman.
It seemed to calm her, but only slightly. You could feel her ragged breath on your neck. A fall like that would scare anyone. It felt more dire though, knowing how it all could have ended. How nobody bothered with nets. All on Vandervere’s orders.
"Mon chevalier." She breathed into your neck, though you barely caught it.
Everyone was yelling about locating Dumbo. You worried for the elephant, but knew he was smart. He wouldn’t go anywhere without a reason. But you felt your heart drop into your stomach when Vandervere made a beeline for the two of you.
Colette seemed to sense his approach, wiping her eyes and pulling away from you quickly. She offered you a wavering smile. Though you were both reeling from the near-death experience, you knew what he was going to say. The show would go on tomorrow, despite today’s events. It was all or nothing.
----
“Colette?” You said softly, stopping your instruction of her and Dumbo.
Looking up from her hold on the little elephant, she raised a curious eyebrow. It was rare you prompted conversation. Usually you spoke when she spoke to you.
“Oui?” She asked.
“Are you… sure that you want to do this? I don’t want you to get hurt.”
Her eyes softened as she moved from her spot, taking your hands in her own. She pressed gentle kisses to the back of each one. It made you melt, but did nothing to quell the worry churning in your stomach. You were terrified of seeing her hurt. You had failed to help Annie, your sister, and feared failing Colette in the same way.
“I will be alright.” Colette said confidently.
“You’re sure?” You whispered.
“As long as you are there to catch me, mon coeur.”
Colette seemed to hesitate, before pulling you nearer to her by your hands, and placing a gentle kiss on the corner of your mouth. You froze. Never had you imagined being in such a position, but you felt lucky to be so close to her.
When you froze, she began to pull away, fearing that she’d overstepped. You stopped her immediately. Seeing the barely contained interest in your eyes, she finally leant forward and pressed her lips to yours. It felt like a dream; one you never wanted to wake up from.
Her lips were soft and gentle on yours. Almost timid in how careful she was, before pulling away to lean her forehead against yours. You closed your eyes to take in the euphoria of the moment.
“I’ll always be there.” You vowed to her.
“Then the show must go on.”

Love is blind
Colette Marchant x Reader

Words 1880
A/n I originaly had a much longer idea in mind for an obsessive Colette fic but I decided to hold off on that idea, if y'all want it maybe I'll get around to writing it sometime this year.
Warnings, obsessive behavior, and maybe a slight controlling behavior. I don't think there's anything else but let me know if I forgot something.

Max Medici selling his circus to V.A. Vandemere might've been the best thing to ever happen to you. You, your brother Holt, your niece and nephew and the rest of the circus all moved to Dreamland Amusement Park. You know the only reason you're here is because of Dumbo, the flying elephant you and the kids have been taking care of, but you're still happy to be here.
The best thing about moving here was Colette, the beautiful trapeze artist. Ever since you met her, back at the old circus, when she came with Vandemere to see Dumbo, you haven't stopped crushing on her.
You're starting to get the impression she might like you back, there are things she does that make you wonder. Like when you catch her staring at you or when Vandemere showed you to your new rooms and they were next to Colette's and she smirked at you as she passed by, and then now, she kept eye contact with you while she practiced her trapeze.
You and Colette were the only one in the practice tent, You had shooed the kids and Holt off, Vandemere gave the kids passes to go on all the rides, Colette was getting better at riding Dumbo so You and Holt decided the kids and him could run off and have fun before Dumbo's first show, tonight.
You watch as Colette and Dumbo fly around the room once more before landing, Colette hops off Dumbo. Dumbo runs over to you immediately, nearly knocking you over, you kneel down and start petting him. Colette clears her throat, getting your attention, you look up to see her staring at you rather intensely. "What do you think, are we ready for tonight?" Colette asks, never taking her eyes off you.
"The two of you are improving a lot, but I think your bond could be closer." You say, looking at Dumbo then her again, you continue. "Dumbo knows you, but he doesn't have a relationship with you, you're just the lady that rides on his back. There's no friendship between you too." You explain, scratching behind Dumbo's ears while he leans into your side.
Colette huffs. "And how am I supposed to build a closer bond in just a few hours?" The French woman's visibly annoyed that you're critiquing her performance, you roll your eyes. "Come here." You say, gesturing her over. Once she's close enough you grab her hand, pulling her down to kneel beside you, then you guide her hand to the spot on Dumbo's head he loves having scratched.
After a minute of giving dumbo love and affection he rolls over to cuddle closer to Colette, causing her to genuinely smile. As she continues petting Dumbo you take the moment to stare at her, taking in her beauty. She catches you, you snap your head back down to watch Dumbo, hoping she doesn't think you were really staring at her. You start berating yourself for being stupid, but you feel a hand on your knee.
You look up to see her staring intensely at you again, your heart starts beating so loudly your scare she'll hear it. Colette leans in slightly causing you to let out a shaking breath, making Colette smirk and lean closer, she glances down at your lips then back up to look into your eyes. You're so nervous you can't even lean forward to close the distance between you. Just as you feel Colette breath ghost across your lips the doors open, causing you both to pull away quickly.
Vandemere walks in followed by his bodyguard, Vandemere looks at us on the ground and asks. "Why aren't you practicing?" He's clearly annoyed we're not. You clear your throat "Dumbo's been flying all day, he needs to rest before tonight's performance." You say, voice a little shaky. You see Colette smirking in the corner of your eye.
Vandemere nods "Ah yes well, I came to talk to you anyway, about something important. There's going to be a red carpet before tonight's show, a few reporters and photographers, and I want YOU on my arm tonight." Both you and Colette say "what" at the same time, you're shocked and nervous about the idea, Colette's angry.
"Shouldn't your girlfriend accompany you on the red carpet?" You ask, look from Vandemere to Colette. "No, I don't want Colette being seen until Dumbo and her's performance. And I want Dumbo's trainer there." Vandemere says, growing annoyed.
You try once more to be out of this. "My brother is also Dumbo's trainer, so are the kids."
"The kids are too young for these kinds of things, and your brother doesn't have as pretty of a face as you." Vandemere says, trying to be charming. You sigh in defeat, and agree to do it. Vandemere claps his hands together excitedly. "Wonderful, I already have some seamstresses in your room, so let's go get you into a gown for tonight." And quickly ushers you out of the tent.
You spend the next few hours trying on countless dresses and getting your hair and makeup done, until you're finally ready. You're nervous but you're able to get through all the interviews with a smile, "you're almost done" Vandemere whispers to you while you pose for pictures. You start to relax, happy you've gotten through this with nothing to bad happening, but then Vandemere does something stupid, he leans down and kisses you. A short quick peck on the lips, you immediately pull away, and storm off, praying no one took a photo of it.
You go find Holt and the kids in the main tent, backstage getting ready for Dumbo's performance. Luckily Colette's nowhere to be seen, you don't know if you can face her right now, Holt asks if you're okay and you lie saying you are.
The night ends in more chaos, there wasn't a net during the performance, Dumbo slipped and almost caused Colette to fall. Then Dumbo flew out of the tent and found his mother in a wild animal exhibit, and Milly ran off. After finally finding Milly, you start the long processes of walking her to her rooms then walking to yours. Somewhere between finding Dumbo and finding Milly you broke a heel. So you're walking barefoot, once you're finally in your room, you strip off your dress and fall into bed.
You wake to a banging noise coming from somewhere close by, you roll over in bed curling into your blankets, trying to ignore it. After a minute with no signs of the sounds stopping you get up to see where it's coming from and if you can make it stop, you grab a robe tying it tightly around yourself before going to investigate the noise. Upon entering the main lounge area you find out the noise is coming from someone bang on your door, assuming it's Holt, you march angrily to the door, ready to tell him to go away.
You yank the door open, to find a very angry Colette, holding today's newspaper. You can't read the newspaper because of how she's holding it, but you assume it's about her performance and that's why she's mad. Sighing you opening the door wider signaling for her to come in, she does and as soon as you close the door your back is slammed into it. Colette's body pressing yours to the door one hand on the door by your waist the other by your head, you're shocked, unable to comprehend what's happening. Colette's eyes burning with anger and something else, her almost ragged breath hitting your face.
You're a little worried but that doesn't stop the feeling burning in your lower stomach, you start to squirm but don't make an effort to move away. Colette notices this causing her to grin, she pushes herself closer to you and ghosts her lips against yours, never letting your lips touch even when you try closing the distance. "Colette." You whimper, pleading with her. Her grin only grows. "Aww you poor thing, you're so desperate for me." Colette coos, teasing you. causing you to go weak. Colette moves to your neck, her breath hitting it, and you can feel her teeth graze your jaw. You whimper again, causing Colette to chuckle against your throat.
Colette moves closer to your ear. "Just say the magic word." She whispers, seductively. Then continues teasing you. "Please." You gasp, desperately. You're not sure you can take much more of her teasing. Colette wastes no time, moving her hands from the wall to your face and kisses you, pulling you closer to her. You kiss her back immediately, melting into her. You grab onto her shoulders, steading yourself. Colette's tongue slips into your mouth, exploring, dominating. When Colette starts to pull away she bites your bottom lip pulling on it before releasing it and you.
Your gasping for air you didn't know you needed, still on cloud 9 from the kiss. Colette leans back, a grin on her face as she admirers you. Her hands still resting on your face, she caresses your cheeks with her thumbs. Her grin widens, you see on her face that she just had a thought, you start to ask but she beats you to it.
"You seem to have enjoyed this kiss more than yours last night." She says, smugly. And traces your bottom lip with her thumb. You're shocked, you really thought no one had seen it. Colette raises an eyebrow at your stunned expression, then proceeds to pick up the paper she must've dropped when she pushed you against the wall, and read from an article. "...After my talk with V.A. Vandemere and the lovely flying elephant trainer, Miss (Y/l/n). I witnessed a moment between them, a kiss, one that ended with Miss (Y/l/n) storming off…" Colette finishes reading it and looks up at you.
You blush, embarrassed that someone not only saw but wrote about it. "I um.. Did you read the part where it says I stormed off." You say weakly, avoiding eye contact.
"I did." Colette says, annoyed. But somehow you know it's not you she's annoyed at. You chance a look at her, but when you do you're caught in her intense stare, unable to look away. "Please don't be mad, I didn't like it." You say, trying to reassure her.
Colette lightens up on her stare, she comes closer to you again. "I know baby, I just don't like it when people touch things that belong to me." Colette coos, and gently grabs your chin. "You do belong to me, don't you?" Colette asks, her voice low. Almost daring you to say no.
If you weren't so in love with her you might've been able to tell how dangerous this was, might've questioned the tone she used, maybe you would've seen the way she stared at you when you weren't aware. Maybe you'd question why your room is next to hers or why it's so far away from your brother's when you know there's vacant rooms closer. But you're in love, you don't notice any of it.
You look at Colette with so much love and adoration, and tell her what she wanted to hear. "Yes."
